Why do even GM's tarp on this server?

I think it's pretty lame that one or more GM's feel the need to tarp.

I think it's pretty lame that the GMs need to hide their identities in the first place.

If I were working hard on a server, and if some little fuckmook started spreading shit about me, I'd ban that wonderful fellow's ass in a second, teach em to shut the fuck up and be grateful.

But the staff here is much too lenient.

There are at least two good reasons I can think of for the identity hiding:

1) So that the GM's are capable of playing the game still on "civilian" characters without being swarmed by people who want a GM's attention for one reason or another.
2) So that people don't start drama concerning guilds that one or more GM's belong to.

To sum it up, the GM's hide their identities so they are still able to enjoy simply playing the game.

As for the tarping. Meh. If you're using secret identities anyway, does it really make a difference whether your alt is allegedly male or female? It's not like you're going to date or cyber with a GM, so gender should be pretty irrelevant.

There aren't any more tarping GMs anyways, at least not that I know of. I was the last one. Lol.

Anyways, it's a role playing game. What if someone wants to play the role of another gender? And yes, Jangster is just around to start trouble.

On Tarps in General.

I have heard lame excuses on Playing Tarps before the only reasonable one was given by Dew (I think)

I wouldn't really go so far as to call it sprite infatuation. If you don't like the way a male sprite looks, why not use the female? Or if you don't like the way a female sprite looks, why not use the male? It's just like choosing colors. If you like blue over red, then you use Blue for your character. I wouldn't go so far as to call it "color infatuation" Lol

In the case of the Bard/Dancer jobs, you may be forced to tarp in order to play it.

Tarping never bothered me because the first multiplayer online game I ever played was Phantasy Star Online. In that game, there actually was a game-mechanic difference between playing the game with a male character vs a female character of the same class. For example, the male might be better with attack spells, while the female is better with support spells, so if you wanted to play a certain type of character, you could be forced to tarp. As a result, seeing people playing characters opposite of their irl gender was pretty common.
