Question About Anthemro (big one)

To,Anyone who can help

   

           Ok heres my problem 1st i download the full installer and after that i install when i see a icon at my desktop "anthemro" i pressed it i let it patch and when it said complete i press start game after few secends this came out "Cannot init d3d OR grf file has a problem"
(BTW acejay's site iro.ragnarok.com dint work for me it said cannot find page)

This could help:

CANNOT INIT D3D OR GRF HAS A PROBLEM ERRORS: This essentially means you need to update your Video card drivers or download/update your DirectX. Check here for more in-depth info: [Here]

May i ask how? i just downloaded the Full one (Mirandu its somwhere in my 1st post that cant work it said cant find page)

To update your sakray, you have to go to the directory where you installed the game (for example: C:\Program Files\Gravit\RO), and double click on the file "Sakray.exe". Now you have to wait till it's finished (usually when the leftmost button is click-able).

If some error pops up while patching, you should look for the Alternative Sakray patcher. I'm sorry, I didn't find a download for the Alternative Sakray file, but I'm sure you'll find it somewhere in AceJay's thread how to deal with common problems:

A fix I found via google, the one colored in purple seems to be what usually will do it for players ^^

-PLEASE make sure your system meets the minimum requirements for RO. (voodoo series cards sometimes don't work properly, same with Mobility Rage/Radeon cards.. they might have fixed this problem with the newer cards though.)

KNOWN FIXES FOR CANNOT INIT D3D OR GRF FILE HAS PROBLEM

-Update your video driver and direct x.
-Make sure your video driver is listed in the ragnarok setup (to get to set up, go to the folder you have ro installed in and click the icon that says Setup). <= Kaypha mentioned this one.. if it's not there, install your video driver.
-Set to full screen mode.
-Lower your settings in the RO Setup (usually, this doesn't make much of a difference but I know of one case where it did).
-Be sure the resolution you're using in the RO setup is the same one you use on your computer.
-Check to see if you're using 'Direct3D HAL' in the RO Setup. If not, choose that one. If you are, choose the other.
-Make sure Remote desktop sharing isn't enabled (to do so, open up netmeeting, and under tools, go to Remote Desktop Sharing and go through the whole setup thing. After that completes, go back to tools and uncheck Remote desktop sharing to disable it). Remote Desktop has a nasty habit of sometimes not allowing other applications to use directdraw.

If none of this works, run the Directx diags and look for problems there. to run these diags, go Start => Run => type "dxdiag"

Once you get there, check out the Display tab. This will allow you to make sure directdraw and direct3d are working properly and enabled.

How long do you use your PC yet? You NEED Video Card drivers in order to play ANY game. Perhaps they are on a CD which was delivered with your PC, and you just forgot to install these?

not really...i am using no card for RO. its still works....Ro needs very low config..

Eh... You are using "no card" for RO?

Well, RO needs a Video Card which is capable of 3D graphics, though (because the environment is 3D). So you can't have NO drivers at all.

It clearly states that you need a Video Card with 3D acceleration (source is iro.ragnarokonline.com).
So no, you can't play RO without a driver. You'll get the "can't init 3d..." error.

No, you need to know the name to get the driver, else it won't work!
And you don't have to install the 3D thing, it's included in the Video Card driver.
Well.. Hmm. You do not seem to know alot about computers, but perhaps we can help you if you give us the name of your computer? Just try to find something on the PC which looks like a name.
Or ask your parents if they bought the PC, and ask them for the Video Card driver.

I'll repeat: You can't play RO without a driver which enables the 3D acceleration of your Video Card.
You don't need to install DirectX, since you already have it.

This happened to me on some computers alot of the time.  Try going to config and setting to Full Screen 800x600, then running it, and going back to windowed if it works.  That usually works out for me.
