How do GMs detect bot users? O_o
« on: January 14, 2008, 04:15:41 pm »
How do they know if someone is botting or not? What if they ban a player who hasn't been botting but she/he was just accused of botting? I get the part where bots use the same way of looting, walking or DCing/Teleporting, the "me no englis" technique and etc. But is there a way GMs detect bot users without people reporting them...??

and another question : why don't botters ever learn that botters can't escape aRO GMs? Are they stupid? x_x

1. They have theri ways that they'll probably not disclose... Else evading the bot detection system will be a lot easier. It's easier to hide from something you know about then when you don't.

2. Because umm... they put their 1 brain cell in the computer to run the bot??

No longer high GMing. Please do not message me about your recovery. Don't give away the keys to your car and you won't have it stolen and have to go to the police to try and get it back.

Well, yeah... I knew that. I was thinking twice whether to ask this or not... but still I just wanna make sure...
How do GMs know that all those players they banned are all guilty of botting and not some innocent goodie2x players that won't even submit a ticket for thinking that GMs are always 100% right. o_o (no offense)

Are they 100% exact and don't commit errors? o_o

1. The bot checks are 100%
2. Players can always send in a ticket showing a screenshot at the time of bot check along with:

What the bot checker looked like
Did the bot checker say anything?
What did the room look like?
Was the player warped to more than just one place?

The bots, when bot checked, exhibit a certain behavior that then shows that 100% they are a bot when done by a gm. One of the things that is obvious is:

When the bot is sitting down, upon being healed, they automatically jump right back up and start attacking monsters. Where as with a player, there is a delay.

Upon being warped somewhere, the bot will automatically sit down if there are no monsters nearby to kill.

I've heard that when you are bot checked, your warped to different rooms, and If your client is modified you will enter the room, but if your client is NOT modified you will just DC.

So, If your not botting, you wouldn't be able to anwser those questions about what the bot checker looked like, or what the room looked like.
