Uh, no. With the dex set you are bound to put fucktons of points into dex for IC. With cast reduction gear it frees up tons of points for you to distribute elsewhere, for example you can run cast reduction and have 15~16k hp on wizzy.

I'll have to try the cast reduction build some time.

It's making a DI Valk sound infinitely more appealing.

You need DL though to get the first 20% from the DI top gear though, right? Or am I missing something?

And the wing staff on RMS is only listed as effecting the mage tree and SL.

Does it effect the acolyte tree in-game too?

Yeh you need DL for the 20%, second one for 10% as I'm sure you know.

Dunno about the staff, I was under the impression Aco could use it too. /hmm

Thank you kindly for the clarification.

I see about the staff then.  I was curious since I haven't personally ever had one.  I suppose I may have to find one later and see if they truly can wear it.

It always stacked, it just doesn't get the bonus from the DL combo.

It only gives 10% by itself.

Now, the problem with a cast reduction build is that you trade pretty much all your power for survivability. You can't use HW card, Kiel, or Vesper to improve your damage. You won't be able to use Bishop card when it comes out. You lose 20 int from not using a Kaho, you lose 10 int from not using Celebs/Brys (unless you use Berz Brys). You also lose the ability to use SoM/Tome if you use that staff. You're stuck with using an Orleans Server for your shield, so you need to make a Toad OS / GTB OS / Maya OS just to keep your IC.

I REALLY wouldn't suggest using that kind of build unless your main focus is survivability (which on a HW, it really shouldn't be. They're basically glass cannons).

95% reduction with a Tome/SoM is still pretty damn impressive. ;>

Honestly I find the cast reduction build excellent on scholars.

It allows you affectively use both autocast mode along with casting.
Plus, scholars were never really meant to go IC, so having 95% is quite enough.

You'd be even fine with around 80% <-- about what I use.  You do have memorize as well which halves your casting times.
& yes, cast reduction gears reduce the casting time of memorize, unlike dex.

So you can run around with a tome with 190 attack speed, some decent flee, a lot of vit, and a whole lot of int.
Course you won't hit as hard as with a kaho, but for me survivability > damage (it hasn't that much lower damage anyway)

Only thing that sucks is if you go against a gtb target in pvp, say goodbye to using strip with 1 dex :P

It's better for Professor than Wizard, yes.

They're more of a hybrid melee/magic class though, whereas HW pretty much focuses entirely on magic.

The thing with not having exactly IC though, is that you can still be interrupted, even if the window of opportunity is small. So, say you're being DPS'd by well, anything. You won't be able to cast.

Also, Eruruw, DI didn't use to stack. That's why pallies had to run clock tower mids. =/

No pallies ran clock tower mids because they only needed that 5%, not 10% + a penalty of 10% hp and sp. Why get a penalty where its not needed?

^ That's good to know.  I know I read that they didn't stack when I was first researching Crusader.  The thread is probably still around here.  But if they work, that's useful info~

I'm curious now.  Are people actually bothering to up OS to past +4? Or are some going up to +7?

I figured it'd be a case of survivability > power though based off everything.

It also seems like no own has backed up that HP and Champs can use a Wing Staff as well, so I'm going to guess they can't.  I haven't had a chance to farm one to test.

I was curious about using the set in PvM; it seemed more disadvantageous than anything.  It looks like it'd shine in PvP or WoE though (for a professor).

Hmm...

You should be able to get IC on any class that can wear an Orlean's Server and Orlean's Glove.

20% From DI + DL, 10% from a second DI, 60% from two Berz, and according to RMS the Orlean's combo gives 10% cast reduction.

Regardless, it's a lot to invest in for the purpose of survivability while effectively gimping your offensive capabilities.
