Startup Problems

Hey guys,

I just tried installing AnthemRO on my Windows 7 machine, used the Anthem patcher, can't access the sakray patcher, and can't start AnthemRO. I did try using anthem_win7.exe instead of anthem.exe. The error returned was "Cannot initialize d3d OR grf file has errors" or something like that. Can i get some help please?

Before starting Anthem_win7.exe or Anthem.exe (you should only use the latter one if you do not get weird palette errors), go to setup.exe first. If you cannot change the resolution or video card driver, you need to install video card drivers!

Ok, thanks. I changed the video card settings, so now it works, but I still can't access the sakray patcher. Is this important at all? I'm used to patching both sakray and anthempatch when i first install.

No, if you downloaded the latest installer from the homepage (i.e. October 17th or 19th), you don't need to patch your Sakray anymore. For the sole reason that Sakray isn't updated by Gravity anymore, because they're now using the renewal patcher which we don't need yet.

Ah, ok, thanks. I'd also like to know why i can't see any of the dyes my characters have/had. They show up on login, but not in game. Am I missing something?

Several Windows 7 versions (i.e. the 32-bit ones. AFAIK, all 64-bit versions work with dyes) spit out an error if you try playing with Anthem.exe, some sort of palette error that makes no sense, though. For that reason, one of the former devs created the Anthem_win7.exe client for people getting the weird palette errors upon logging in. A side effect is that you cannot see dyes, though, and no, we unfortunately do not know of a fix (yet).
