mouse is slowing noticably
« on: November 05, 2009, 06:09:23 pm »
Recently i have built a brand new computer with windows 7, and i got a Logitec G9x mouse. but when i put Ragnarok on this new computer i have noticed that the mouse slows down a lot randomly while moving it around, i never had this problem with my old basic logitec mouse. when i mentioned it to my C++ certified friend he mentioned that some games have a thing called "mouse smoothing" and when you have a higher quality mouse that sometimes happens and he said to just turn off mouse smoothing.

so my question is does Ragnarok use mouse smoothing? if it does how do i turn it off.
and if it does not anyone know what i can do to fix this problem? its extremely annoying

Blame GM Fidelis for it

it happened to me after using his mini patch, delete or rename dinput.dll inside your ro folder (its for something called mouse freedom)

ok i did further research, and found that it was not a problem with Ragnarok. for anyone else so notices slowing of the mouse what i did to fix it is

opened control panel
open hardware and sound section
under devices and printers click mouse
in the new window that opens up select the pointer options tab
uncheck the Enhance pointer precision box

this has worked exactly as needed, just takes a little getting used to cause it seems to me like the pointer is moving faster.

Note: this step by step is in windows 7.

<_< First of all, you shouldn't notice a real difference when using a brand new computer. Furthermore, it rather appears to me that the mouse is moving slower when NOT using mouse freedom, i.e. when the mouse sensibility is controlled by the game client, and not by Windows.

well i'm no computer expert, but that fix did work for me. whether or not it will work for everyone i can't say, but its one of the possibly hundred of reasons the mouse could be lagging

Yeah, mousefreedom absolutely lags your mouse, even when you are alt-tabbed out of RO. I tried it on several computers, old and brand new. I suggest you get ROExt instead, it's a better, less laggy and more advanced version of mousefreedom. Get it here: http://www.ratemyserver.net/forum/downloads/roext-mouse-freedom-and-some-tweaks/0/

:( Mouse freedom never lagged my system, and I was/am not using high end computer hardware. On the other hand, ROExt's features look nifty, especially the key mapping stuff.

Okay okay, I'll remove mouse freedom from the next mini & full installer.

You can always just add it under an EXTRAS folder or something. Make enabling it optional.
