EXTREME Lag spikes?

I'm having terrible lag spikes.

I can walk normal for about 3-4 seconds every so often, but then it just hangs, no one moves, nothing happens, then it speeds up all of a sudden, and like fifty things happen at once.

I can cast Magnifcant, Angelus, Assumptio and Bless at the same time; or cast 4-5 heals in one cast.
I can body relocate around by clicking.


It's NOT Dyefire, I've closed it, and all of that.
It's NOT Sakray, or any error like that.



I have a pretty good connection too, so it's not like I'm on a 56K.. I use a Cable Modem, on a router :<

It's never lagged like this, and it just started doing it yesterday.. Left me alone for most of the day, but it was still really glitchy.



Is there some way to fix this..? Or at least Prevent it? I have NOTHING aside from RO open, and it's still lagging like hell.

Edit: I'd like to point out I live in an EST Timezone.. So the server moved CLOSER to me, and I'm laggier now.

Are you in some crowded place like prontera or skellington? I've been lagging a little in skellington but not as bad as what you have described. maybe turn off effects?

No, I'm alone in Alberta, way off to the right, with no NPCs OR Spells being cast.

It's a bit worse in crowded areas too.

Dyefire was on, but I closed it to see if it had any change.

Note that this server has not had the best stability. Aegis is not quite bulit correctly to handle what goes on here, and therefore, players can recieve random d/c's or Failures To Connect, even if they are running a T1 line, on a newly installed XP Pro SP2, with high quality computer components, with nothing else installed on the computer but AnthemRO, and no anti-virus software, or firewalls or parental controls.

It's just not possible for everyone to have perfect stability with this server, unfortunately.

Now to those who come in saying "BUT ACEJAY, Aegis is infinitely more stable than other emulators, etc," guess what? We don't have the most up-to-date Aegis Version. We don't have the code that enables iRO to have MANY more players than we do online. We just don't.

The best we can do is hope that Talis somehow discovers a magical line of code that would let us play lag-free.

Donations won't exactly help, since we're already running on the best server money can buy, practically.

Ah well. Maybe we'll switch to eAthena

lag is every where, most peoples lagging badly, i think server need reboot......

Yeah.. Even with PMs, and Chatboxes, even NPCs!

Maybe it's due to the Fireworks, so many of them being spammed lags the server, or something :< ;~~;

It's not the fact that my internet is being shared.. The internet loads perfectly, and other games don't lag.

Only Anthem is lagging for me.

Why would it randomly get laggy? It was never like this before.

Definately not alone, I've been having this for the past few days now, todays been the worst though.

I really have no speculation as to what it could be, word from the GM's will roll around soon and then we can start ruling things out.
