As much as I like Aro for it's stability the fact so many pieces of MVP equipment have been modded make it hard for people to really get into Aro because the changes really push certain classes way above others in the PvM and PvP circuit.
The missing pieces of armor/cards/maps/bosses from the newer updates that make the game enjoyable for people who have been playing Ragnarok for a long time aren't here which from experience makes the game fairly boring after playing for awhile, even more so as people on this server rarely ever even do quests outside of the custom SQI quests and the "access to dungeon" stuff. With our "Kaho" headgear theres really only top headgear 3 hats that will ever be suggested to people Kaho/Custom kaho/Valk Helm[1] ( Kaho gives insane buffs, and the valk helm isa SQI now, not just a [1] Top headgear with +5 magic def anymore ) and with the inclusion of MVP cards as normal items here ( as this is a donation server ) variation in builds is really lacking and it makes everything boring. People will probably tell you "no way, the variation is in the skill of the player " or whatever else, but the fact is that the majority of people have very similar learning curves and generally the more you pvp/woe/PvM, the better you get at it because of the competition it really isn't as exciting as it could be In my opinion. And with only maybe 2 builds per class even usable on this server for top tier stuff, you can expect a lot of things to come down to, who has the better gears.
Alot of area's/Skills and items have been thrown to the wayside because of it, and places like Nif_fild01 have become the "best" places to train because the spawn rate has shot up through the roof there and its relatively easy to do. The fact that black smiths/White smiths no longer have any real strategy in PvM aside from melee is also still something I haven't gotten used to. And while I know that things are different because of the inclusion of MVP cards as common, all its done is make one map way over populated, create an influx of zenny and a decrease of variation in play style, partying and drops vended. The economy has also adjusted a huge curve and it makes it difficult for new players to start out and even slightly compete with players that already have stuff regardless of the difference in skill.
Aside from that the community is generally very nice, just don't spend too much time in prontera if you do want to make friends as anyone who is there generally just wants to sell you stuff and aside from that.... Aro is one of the most stable servers that exists it's been around for a little over 3 years with NO wipes. ( I think a few 1 or 2 hour roll backs to fix some mass guild problems, but never a full wipe in the entire time Aro has been up )
