Tome+MdefPiercing
« on: August 05, 2009, 06:21:12 pm »
Since High Wizards have AmplifyMagicPower in their disposal, and Scholars can't use MindBreaker on themselves, would scholars benefit from receiving a built-in Mdefpiercing effect on their SQI? If sages and scholars can pierce 15~25% of an opponent's MDEF, would that be considered fair for everyone (scholars and other classes)?
Spoiler for IGNs:
WS - Galizur ; SinX - Corretto ; LK - Moccaccino ; HW - /\ndromalius ; Clown - /\mbriel ; Bard - Strung Out
Spoiler for Things to do:
- Kafraclips for my Sinx, LK and HW
- Assassin gears: Combatknives, Icepicks, +9~10 mes[3]x2, +9~10 Fortune Sword (?)
- ranked +10 VVS water, earth, and wind damascus
- Custom sprites for my valkhelms: Minstrel Song Hat, Crown of Deceit, Musketeer Hat
- +7 Diabolus robe
- (maybe) buy 99/70/50 trans classes (champ and HP)?
- One billion zeny in possession

I think Strip shield is already pretty sufficient. Considering that scholars can tear right through GTB then.

Which doesn't help much in WoE as everyone is FCPed.

I figure a bit of MdefPiercing can help as sages and scholars mostly have single target offensive spells. Also most people just expect them to cast either Waterball or Heaven's Drive.

Hmm, but Amplify Magic Power honestly isnt that great of the spell.
Considering that it can only increase the power of one spell for one hit, the only thing viable spell to be amplified is Jupiter Thunder (or other bolt spells). However, if we give Scholar 15% piercing, it makes the scholar extremely powerful since it powers up Waterball tremendously, which seems kinda overpowering.

I am a Tome Professor, and honestly. I wouldn't give up my Mistress for a HW Card. Their magic is already powerful enough, plus they have strip shield to either strip a Toad, Maya, or GTB. Carrying Hundreds of gemstones is a pain in the ass to do weight wise. Plus the HW Side Effects will screw up the class stat wise.

Better reason to play a sage class! /gg

Most people know when to use GTB anyway. 15% Mdef Piercing shouldn't be a problem to anyone wearing a GTB while FCP'ed.

Also read somewhere that people will receive less damage from HW card if they don't wear a lot of MDef gears. Is that true?

amplify is not mdef piercing.  fuck.  amplify is mattk increase.  so even w/ 90 mdef you still do 1 damage.

Actually I think it's the other way around. HW is basically taking a certain amount from 100%. The more you have, the less damage it will do. The less you have, the more it will do. Using a HW card is like your enemy wearing less MDEF gears, think of it that way. The people that you hear from probably have the wrong idea on it.

.______________. It's not a fucking Magic Ice Pick. It's a Combat Knife.
What does that mean? It will do the same damage regardless of your Mdef .

Sorry, but I find that 99% of the profs in WoE are in Vit build. And if they are int, they are doing it wrong.

IMO theres no such thing as "doing it wrong", its a game that (should) welcome open builds...although some are more preferred. (might see more int with hwiz card)

no in woe if you are not running a vit build with ic or with berz brys and other cast reductions you are doing it wrong. in woe a class should fulfill there roll efficiently and the best way to do that is by using a high vit build. thats the best way to keep yourself alive and support your team as the only thing that matters is winning.

its the same reason a large part of scholar in iro are soul burn/soul change scholars with decent vit and high dex or reductions as that is the best way to help the team win.

*cough*

Everyone may be FCPed but at times people are forced to go Toad. Soul burn hurts so much in such cases :(
Professor isnt meant to be a Rambo in war (even though it can be). If you work your professor properly(usage of skills) your party can rip through the opposite team no matter the odds. Thing is everyone wants to be a killer in war. Someone has to play support for winning ya know :\
