What should I buy...
« on: January 18, 2009, 07:34:30 am »
So I have right now 8.86 ads and I'm going to buy Tirfing card. So I'm thinking should I buy +7-8 Buckler or +7-8Guard?
I would use it at Niff on my High Priest. So not all classes can use buckler, for example merchant class. So I was wondering if I ever get my Blacksmith to good lvl and start making cash with it, should I rather get Tirf Guard? I WILL buy it as +7 or +8.

Yup, you might think a Buckler is a better idea for now but later you might regret not getting the Guard.

Hmm, according to rms buckler does work for merchant classes.  In fact, maybe I'm missing something but the only classes I notice that can't use buckler is hunter, mage classes, and extended classes.  Guess it's up to you to decide whether you want to be able to use it on any of those classes or not, but you could no doubt always sell it later and buy a different one if you needed.  I personally would get the buckler since I'm only likely to use it on my Blacksmith anyways, although since it's only really a difference of 1 def, it might not matter that much.

True, and Buckler weights twice more as Guard, so having 1 def and twice the weight than other shields isn't worth it. On a magic class you need gears what doesn't weight much or you end up loosing points on STR and that's just bad.

if its main purpose is niffing and you already have lotsa of def(+8eddga's etc) then a buckler would be like getting half a PCB :D
but if def isnt ur priority..then guard is nice. and you can use it on a mage class :D

Have a tifting guard 9+ and a gtb buckler. I can't find in many situations I use my buckler cause it doesn't go with what class needs it the most for me, tifting works all around *even novice in the beginning* with teh buckler i might have to unslot and put into another guard :P.

seriously if you are thinking of what to choose, get a guard as it can be use by all....

But for some of the people, 1 def mean a lots.. 1def from Buck, 2def from Garment (Shoudler Pad vs Mant vs Muff) , 1-2 def from armour, 1 def for boot....
