Number of Allowed Characters

I was under the impression on aRO we are allowed to have a grand total of 9 different characters. I currently have 5 established characters and went to create a new one today when all the names I started entering came up with the message the name was already taken or contained illegal characters.

After about half an hour of this I was so fed up I began entering random letters to see if ANYTHING would go through. Even the random letter, no sense names were 'taken'. Could they really be taken or is 5 my limit of allowable characters for some unknown reason?

Also...what characters ARE allowed. I tried looking through the AnthemRO website and previous threads but found nothing addressing this.

You can have a maximum of 5 characters on each account. The remaining slots on the account aren't implemented on this server. You are, however, allowed to make as many in-game accounts as you would like.

As far as characters in a name are concerned, you're pretty much just limited to the basic "English" ones. You can use brackets, periods, apostrophes, etc in a name, however, you can't use characters with accents and such.
