The people who are in or trying to get into the top 10 alchemist list all have a 99%-100% chance of success when making potions.
Lol I make my pots with full buffs (except Im missing the second Bris so I use bris+celeb) and still its really rare if I get over 195 pots per TA, but then again, most of them also use stat food and gospel to get an even higher success rate so I could be way off :3.
Also, the pot by itself costs 912z, you have to add the other ings to make it into a slim wich gives you a grand total of 1,287z per slim. Getting into the rank is more of an investment rather than a way of making a living(unless you could buy or farm lots and lots of white herbs, that way you can get some profit since most people buys white herbs for around 600z and not 800z-1k like Frank said).
Either way, if you sell all of your slims -if your purpose is to get into the ranks-, you're not really investing the like 300m+ zeny of whites you need to make to get into the ranks, since youre spending around 100-300z per slim pot instead of the whole 1,287z.
If you want to buy your ingredients a LITTLE BIT cheaper, use a rogue/stalker to buy them with compulsion discount lol.
