Problems with my headset. (The Mic)

I'm trying to play an online game using my headset (PC), but I can't seem to get any
sound into the mic.
Sound receivement is at max, and when I use a program (Steam) to check my
sound, it randomly makes me hear my breathing.

However, whenever I use the windows mic check and read it's text, I hear nothing.
The only problem with the headset is then, that the mic isn't working.
I've had this before with a different mic, but never really bothered with it in the past.

Was hoping you guys might knew a solution.

(Although I need to go to sleep now, it's greatly appreciated that you guys give me some
input on the matter.)

Trust HS-2200.

Also, in the windows sound thing, it says my sound boxes are responsible for
obtaining sounds, and whenever my headset is plugged in, I can't change it
to the headset.

My box set is from the same brand btw. :/

If you're using Vista: Microphones not working and or being detected are a verry common Issue. >.>
