What stats for MVPing with sniper?
« on: August 24, 2008, 03:16:14 pm »
Hello. Im now level 80 sniper. My IGN is Ar-Cherry.
I'm wondering, what stats should i get for solo MVPing?
My gear is:
+4 Moonlight hat (also i have AoA's but i prefer Moonie cause of agi and i get 1 more ASPD)
+4 Tights (Rocker Card) (also i have +4 Tights with Pupa Card)
+7 Hunter bow
Sting glove
Clever clip (dont remember what mob it was, gives +2 dex anyway.)
+4 Muffler (Stem Worm Card)
+4 Shoes (Gargoyle Card)
Binoculars

So thats basically it from what i remember now :)
So please answer for me :)

GTB is very easy, thats the only mvp ive really soloed, ive killed couple mvps with a team and got a few good drops.
MVPin is really fun :)
Spoiler for MUST SEE ;D:

assuming you already have 190 aspd with 2 doppels and your base agi and an awake:

put all your stats into DEX, then the rest in INT.

this allows for maximum doublestrafe damage, while the INT gives you maximum SP for doublestrafing.

I only have +7 hunter bow, thats the best i have x) I Dont have any MVP cards either.
So should i still put 99 dex and rest to int? Doesnt ASPD affect that i shoot DS slow ?

Hmm, dex should be around 8x or something, so that other stats won't be compromised.

What you could try is to put on all your equipment, add your dex to 80, then improve concentration to see how much it adds up to.

You should try and aim for your dex to be a multiple of 10.

When your dex is 80, with improve conc, the total dex does not add up to be a multiple of 10, continue adding dex stat by stat, till it reaches a multiple of 10. Remember to refresh improve concentration everytime you add 1 stat.

Agi could be around 7x, depending on your preference. This will provide useful flee and aspd. Add an awake and your aspd should be 17x close to 180, hopefully.

Rest to vit and int, balance it out.

Hope this guide helps, and btw I am not an experienced hunter/sniper, I am just suggesting what might be useful overall for your PvM builds.

Sidenote: Ankle snare your MVPs, especially in difficult situations and emergencies, it helps alot!

that's good advice, with a few corrections:

Aspd does effect the speed at which you DS, so make sure you have enough INT for a decent DS speed, maybe 180-185 aspd.

then like kerners suggested, get your dex to 80, then IC, then add 1 dex at a time untill you get close to a multiple of 10, then IC again, untill you IC and it equals an even multiple of 10 (for example, 84+36 DEX with IC)

In your case, i think INT can be neglected.  The reason you add INT is for a larger bar of SP for doublestrafing.  In your case, you dont have many extra stats to spare, so if i were you, i'd go all DEX/AGI.  There's definately a point where more INT is better, i just dont know how to figure it out.  You have to figure that additional DEX = higher damage, but more INT = More doublestrafes, which means more total damage.  The INT, however, can be substituted by frequent GJ spamming in order to replenish SP bars.

Also, kerners suggested ankle snaring MVPs...this is utterly useless if you're using the DS technique.  I've only snared 2 MVP's before, and it's because I use a different strategy for those.  Most of your MVP's, however, need to be diagonal DS'ed, not snared.

/ok Yeah diagonal DS is the most important for MVPing, but I only included ankle snare strategies for difficult situations *Goes to edit*
