Professor or High Wizard?
« on: April 22, 2008, 03:28:56 pm »
I've been wanting to make an IC magic class for a while, and I now have the funds to do it. I'm leaning towards professor, but I heard HWiz is good too (I've seen what they can do as well). And anyways, I just want some opinions. Who's better overall, PvM and PvP/WoE wise?
Would help a lot if you'd give an opinion. Vote please...

PvM: HW is easier to level, MvPing, Mobbing, Lh3, ect.
WoE: Both have important roles.
PvP: GTB gimps HW alot more than Prof.

IMO, Prof is more fun than HW. ;3

Do you like attacking, or supporting?

Thats the big question.

Well like I said - do you like attacking, or supporting?

A highwizard will almost always use an offencive spell, unless their using safteywall.
Scholars on the other hand, will use supportive spells, that benifit your party.

For example in Woe:
On a wizard, your main jobs are to force people to put on GTB, and to freeze people, so that
Champions and Creators can AD frozen targets. (also mob displacement)

On a Scholar however, you'll be endowing your party members, using magnetic earth under the emp (while you attack)
Soulchanging teamates. MG'ing narrow choke points on attacks, and other various things.

Personally; the only offencive move I use in Woe is Soulburn. (and Heavens drive, But thats only to reveal stalkers)

I have a Drake rod... oo
I plan to use Waterball. How good is it? I mean, it is the highest single-damage spell in the game. oo
But I like attacking... =S

WoE tactics for a Professor are strictly supportive. Professors lack the skills to effectively combat with frozen targets, which is one large aspect of the WoE environment. Water Ball would be EXTREMELY weak in such a circumstance. Plus, Webbing people is much more important.

Endows are also important. Magnetic Earth. Dispell. Wall of Fog.

Scholars are quite supportive.

I always thought " The Mage class must be Soooo boring " Well I've tried Highwizard and in Pvm I always had a blast mvping and killing monsters , with help of course. I never tried high wizard out during WoE though.
As for scholar , It's fun in Pvm , All I mainly do is Waterball to Mvp though since it's much more faster then any other skill but it's still fun , In WoE Scholar is Very fun , even if it's just supporting. I'm used to Creator , Sinx and well any non support class really and I thought scholar might bore me but I got proved wrong. They're helpful and interesting.

They are hard to 99 though , Lh3 leech is always the best once you hit 90 , but to get to 90 , I had a hard time doing so , but with help from pity and friends I got it to 90 <3

I say you go scholar but the decision is of course up to you.

Lh3ing on prof isn't that hard. =o

True , especially when I have Tome access from my brother Ozg <3
I truly have no idea why I haven't tried it
I mean normally either me or Pity use my younger brothers champ because my champ is in my profs account and leech my prof with a dracs and amut , but would having the Prof kill them be faster ? even without the dracs and amut ?

I think I misspelled " amut " ;_:

Trust me, with a quad drac and am mut, lhz3 leeching the prof with a champ is infinitely faster especially with suiken etc.; it's true she'd probably use less gj on her own but we aren't lvling it to just eventually reach 99 someday off in the future, we were raising it's lvl as fast as possible to be ready for woe.

Prof is horrible for pvm, at least compared to High wizard.  I find it easier to lvl a non-sqi HW than a insanely geared Prof.  They're also better for mvping.  Prof is probably more useful for woe or pvp situations once theres already a HW or two.

Either is fine but i guess it's a play style decision and I much prefer HW.
