Just go with pally
The way i value a class is its usefulness and purpose in WoE (since to me, PvP doesn't exist except as a waste of time--whenever somebody mentions "PvP" i re-interpret it as "WoE")
In this sense, the WoE here is thrown into a wobbly balance that is brought about by custom items useable in WoE
And evenmoreso, they disabled a highly essential move for Lord Knight (Charge Attack)--probably because all the MvPs and SQI overpowered them to the extent that they were unstoppable through proper use.
Thus I would highly recommend a Paladin because of their raw usefulness--compounded with cards, Paladin can a very good char. Throw in their non-weapon SQI and this makes for a very flexible character that can make the most of both simple cards and top-notch rich-man equipment.
Lord Knight's moves are basically catered to PvP--like, every move is designed to aid him in killing another player in a duel or team duel while he is being supported. A paladin is really meant for support but can also go on the offensive to a reasonable degree. Which brings me to my next point: its easier to play a multiplayer game with a character that can be both supportive and offensive. A Lord Knight can only really help others by tanking or mobbing for them.
And of course, last but not least a paladin is virtually impossible to kill (PvP) without the attacker dying first or at the same time

.
There may be a few more points that I forgot to put in but that should be most of it <___< but yeah, people will probably criticize me for some of the points I've made

Hope I helped you sway one way or the other
