KS/looting punishments?

sorry GM string i think i confused you there

i cant quote from processed reports >.< , so quotes from here http://www.anthemro.com/forums/index.php/topic,18710.0.html
Quote from: GM String
Yikes.  Next time, add to your thread about this (if it was open while you decided to write this).  Seeing extra threads about addressed players makes things confusing. @_@

When I consider someone for any punishment, I automatically check to see if they've been punished before.  You'll notice that where that is the case, I post their previous offenses so that if they complain later, it's easier to point to that proof.

And if someone mutes you more than once during a single occasion, it's still a single offense.  So if during the course of one day, by the time your report is posted and the same person wronged you 2 or 3 times, it's still one offense.

The multiple clause kicks in when other people report the same person for the same crime.  Normally, you wouldn't be sending multiple reports on a single person.

but what im asking is why someone KSing me (1 offense of KS) and then 20 minutes later he decides to come back but not to KS but to greed my party, i could easily ask my friends that took SS of him too but some messed up to make a report but i made 1 for the 2 offenses instead and what i find is that GM String considers it as 1 offense so /hmm why?

i dont consider KS and greed the same kind of offense however looting and greeding can be (i disagree on this case too cause only BS, WS get good profit from greed and a random looter not much, but anyway this isnt the case about looting/greeding but ksing/looting)
so why are they considered as 1 offense? a HW can KS you using instant cast SG and then after 20 minutes come back and decide to loot your party all the time during 1 day and will be considered 1 offense? somethings wrong there....

thanks for your fast answers but i dont like my reports going halved >.<

(I noticed a typo in that quote, it should read "And if someone wrongs you more than once."  Sorry =x)  Like I often say, people that break one rule are likely to break a second (and third) rule.  And it's not that I'm giving them breaks by compounding the offenses.  So like you've pointed out, if within one report they are guilty of killstealing AND looting, I'll mute them once.  But get this, next time it's an auto strike two, for either of crimes.  In the long run, it'll hurt them to have less strikes than to have more mute time.

Regardless of time frame:
Player A loots.  Strike 1 for looting.  Muted 6 hours.
Player A KS'es.  Strike 1 for KS'ing.  Muted 6 hours.
Player A loots again.  Strike 2 for looting.  Muted 12 hours.
Player A loots yet again.  Strike 3 for looting.  Muted 24 hours.
Player A doesn't learn his lesson and loots.  Strike 4 for looting.  Muted 48 hours.
Player A figures he'll keep breaking the rules, but will settle for a lesser punishment and KS'es.  Strike 2 for KS'ing.  Muted 12 hours.

By now I'm swirly eyed.  And this guy should have been gone 2 mutes ago.  But if I compound the KS and looting, maybe the guy won't get as much mute time, but now they'll be down strikes.  Though if I punish separately but count them towards strikes anyway, then it's an unfair double whammy.  This is the happy medium that I'm working with, since the current rules aren't specific on that.  But if multiple reports within the same general time frame, regardless of either KS and/or looting, from different people against the same rule-breaker appear, then I can count them.  And if it's at least 3, then punishment gets adjusted.  So by all means, if your friends were individually wronged by the same person on the same day, get those reports in ASAP.

The guy you reported got punished, and I think that should be enough.  Moreso other people, get rather uppity when their cases aren't closed with a ruling in their favor or with the highest possible punishment.  They've been caught, and furthermore, their names are now public.  Not only does this send an alert to other players, but the staff can also remember and tell if behavior is coming from the same account/player under different character names.

I think that answered your questions.  Oh, as for the looting versus greeding, you're implying that it's not that harmful that classes other than smiths loot you.  You're then inviting those classes to take loot that doesn't belong to them.  Rules specify what looting is, and that using the Greed skill also counts.

Wow thanks and yeah that answered all
And about loot/greed im not saying looting by other classes is correct but BS/WS should get more time muted since they make a lot more profit and im sure they do it knowing its against the rules, i rarely see other classes looting, at least in niff and the ones that do it they're mostly doing it inocently and stop when you tell them to, you wont see other classes taking loot and fly wing instantly so it would actually change all the looting that are mostly greeding reports.
Thanks for quick answer again and i most likely wont make my friend to report, he said he got the SS messed up and its kinda the same incident and well keep an eye on that guy, i saw another report where he went clean cause the SS werent clear.

thanks and you may lock this =D
