Well, this is an interesting thread to see coming back from vacation. <_<
I guess we shall see what happens. aRO has been through all kinds of changes in the past, some went better than others, but we're still here.

Change can be scary, but when you've been here as long as i have, you just learn to !

I've been playing Ragnarok Online on and off for a couple years now and I originally started off here.

When I first began, it was literally my first experience with RO--a buddy of mine was talking about it one night while we were drinking and I had to experience it for myself. I wasn't new to the MMO-genre or a grind-fest so I logged in and we started off.

The server was quiet, but active. Players were decent, the economy was healthy, WoE still sucked. I had a blast, regardless. I didn't feel the compelling need to donate in order to get powerful, I could use the economy to make my own wealth and I enjoyed that.

Now, the server is a wasteland. I see the same handful of players talking in @main, sitting around Prontera, doing absolutely nothing.

The economy? Hahah, economy, what economy? No players have desire for anything because the only people still around are outrageously wealthy and inflate their prices to horde their wealth. Trying to get simple cards for a low-level through zeny-farming is literally impossible, since more than half the time you can't even find the item for sale--because, well, duh, nobody plays anymore.

Outside of this, we're competing with servers that reflect a much prettier and more attractive version of the same game. I moved to *****RO because... have you seen their f*cking website? It's gorgeous. All of the information I would ever need is nicely updated and easily accessible. Features are open and noob friendly--making it an inviting place for the non-donators or the actual newbie players. Events are hosted on a daily basis. What's the choice, really? Sure, I've invested time and money (yes, cash money) over here into making my character powerful... but to what end? What do I do now, that the server has fallen from grace? Nothing. Pack up and move out.

I suggest you find yourself a better, more inviting look for Anesis and making the game generally more appealing for the newbie player. More events, more updates, more information, more features. It's your only shot and I wish you luck. I'd love to come back.

I do agree that our website/wiki need a LOT of work right now. Most if not all the new players have no idea about the vend browser, the wiki, or the beginner quest line, which makes starting that much more daunting than it already is.

Make beginner weapons usable by 2nd classes too and give bonuses such as uninterrupted cast and aspd 10% for melee. Cuz i dont find it useful to create them when i just started, im gonna dump them few hours later for jobchange and i end up stuck with crap  gears. Most of my fren who invited me to play already left just simply bcoz its hard to farm and everything is nt affordable to begin with

Tangentially related, I'm a software developer, and from time to time, I've thought about doing RO related side projects. However, most of the things I've come up with require access to data that I don't have. Just as an example, I've thought about maintaining a history of vend transactions to observe trends in price and demand. Would you consider creating a developer API that would facilitate third party apps?
