Quick question about slot enchanting.

Is the refinement supposed to reset after you slot an item? I took a +7 guard and added a slot to it, but instead of giving me a +7 guard[1]. I ended up with an unrefined guard[1]. >.>

Yup thats how its suppose to work. It basically "erases" your original item and gives you the slotted version.
