How does the garm card work?
« on: December 20, 2011, 12:01:35 am »
Ive been thinking about buying a garm card for my armor but lets face it there expensive, and i still have some reservations about wether or not its what i need. so i was hoping maybe some of you could help me understand the workings, such as math or formula. all i know is it gives +10 def, but that might or might not be worth the 25-30 mill ill be paying. for the most part it will be for my 99Hp, 94bs, but ofcourse if its good ill be trading it back and forth with most my characters as well. most of my time is spent in niff because the only gear i have is IC for the Hp.so ladies and gents the bottom line, what does the garm card do, how does it do it, does it affect/work differently on different characters. for example if a champ or pally has high def does it work good for them but bad for a wiz who would have next to none. if its bad for a caster wats the best alternative for niff?

To be honest, if you're gearing up for Niff, you can get by with a disguise carded armor. Gibbets won't cast stone curse on you and Hylozoist won't cast decrease agility on you much due to silence. I got by using one carded into a +4 formal suit.

armor def is nice for all the classes, but they aren't that popular among mage classes  for their lack of hp

Hard DEF works as a percentage reduction. Soft DEF is a subtractive reduction.

so garm gives +10% physical damage reduction.

High def class (swordsmen/merchant) would definitely benefit from garm.
Low def class (mage/archer/aco) would be indifferent from its effects.

If you're looking for a card for niff, I would suggest high priest card, disguise card, bathory card, loli ruri card. Evil druid card is also nice for bs.
