Now, first I'm well aware of the inability to use the phrase '(x)RO' on the forums. Reasons are not important.

However, it is of my understanding that this does not apply to in game. Maybe dependent on the context used?

All I know is in PvP (who gives a hoot about PvP anyway) I said that it was funny seeing people coming back from (x)RO all of a sudden. Which they have. In just a few months alone, I have heard and seen the comings and goings between the two. That's neither here nor there though.

Bottom line; I'm asking if this is considered breaking some sort of nazi law. So that I'll be sure to fall back in line and salute my hand in the fashion everyone else is. Since the paranoia of GM's is I guess widespread now. Considering I was threatened to be reported and banned for stating that observation in PvP. -_-;

We lose more players from those LoL threads and shit, or even more likely from RMS/voting sites than from players mentioning a server name in a random discussion.  Just my opinion anyways.

The rules state, in bold letters:

Do not advertise or name other RO servers, server websites, or any type of inappropriate websites (ie. adult content, hacks, bots, etc).

The reason for doing this is not outlandish or in any way a nazi method of control.  Virtually any and all private servers share the same "do not advertise other servers" type of rule.  One of the reasons as to why we have placed the restriction on mentioning other servers name is so that we cover loopholes. For example, maybe someone can say "Oh, I used to play on (x)RO and they SUCKED!  But i heard lately that they've gotten a little better". Believe it or not, that is a form of "advertising" for that server as you are bringing them exposure and by commenting on them, spreading the knowledge of their existence - which is a form of advertising.

This rule also applies to ingame, although we cannot moderate it as easily as we do the forums because we aren't nazis and monitor your chats.



@Johnsu, you've been here long enough to know exactly what you're doing. I'll let Fidelis decide on how to deal with your testing our tolerance post.

Every rule is stupid, but that doesn't mean that they're not necessary. Simply mentioning it once or so has never led to a ban, but rather to warnings and post deletions, but ignoring warnings, and ignoring the rule will lead to a punishment. So simply don't mention it (why would you anyway?), and the Gestapo won't knock at your door to pick you up.

Since Johnsu is obviously a really funny guy, I'll silence him for a few days from posting. Anyone else?

I get it to a point but it's quite stupid considering you let other MMO threads be created which are easily way better than RO. I would think you'd lose more players to those threads instead of talking about other Private Servers...

The point is, it's less likely that a player will play on two different RO servers than playing both LoL and RO, since LoL and RO are kind of different.

Would also be less likely a player would quit and join the other server if the person was already enjoying themselves with this server.  If a player quits this server for another one (or any other MMO for that matter) JUST because someone mentioned another server name, then you can't really expect that player to have stayed any longer either way.  IMO
