I remember when I started playing... shit was busy... now I log on and even WoE seems... bleh.

I know this doesn't answer the question, which is school and work(returning from summer vacations), but I think there has been a drop ever since the major guilds that use to be around to entice new players are now gone. They were guilds that had this huge competition against each other and were so hard to get into.

Anybody think maybe that's why?

Nope.  It's actually the other way around.  Back in the day it was easier to get into a guild since you didn't need a fully geared char to compete with others, so there were more guilds WoEing.  Sure, there's SQIless WoE, but the only real SQIless guilds are Loyalty and Restricted.  And WoE isn't even the main problem.
