I sorta quit with a bunch of other people because i've been her a while and the server doesn't have too much custom content. WoE is endgame but 1/3 the pop is in one guild and the rest is split up. Not even sure what it woe is like now but I can only imagine with supreme gone that things continue to go downhill.

i lol'ed.

Didn't most of their population fill into other guilds?  Also his lol was about how he thought there was a guild that had 1/3 the woe population when there is no guild in the server even remotely close to that.

well we got LI,Woe superstars around the same time as these guys went out,and i think most of them just called themselves failures and woed under that name.

so we didn't actually lose any guild, gained a new ones in the bargain tho.

There are fewer guilds.  There are fewer people woeing.  There are fewer people playing.  The rate of newbie drop outs isn't any worse, the rate of veteran drop outs is.  We're not quite 1/3 of the total WoE pop but if you include all our dual clients we're certainly close.  That's all I'll really say on the subject.

Back... on topic here,
or something else than mute wise punishment?

1. lose all of their current job/ base % (reset it to 0.0%)
2. Orc face for how ever long and it can't be taken off when you relog( maybe a funny punishment but it goes to show that your this bad person who didn't follow the rules)
3. Character access deny, meaning you can't get on that certain character for how ever long
4. lose zeny amount to the offense
5. lose job/ base level meaning you lose 1-3 base/ job level

1. if they're 99/70 then that doesn't really do much for them tho on the flip side if they're 98 and allmost there it'd suckass.
2. think the red '...' is more humiliating than that but it'd still be kinda funny...
3. isn't that a temp ban?
4. if you're rich... then they probably wont care, if you're poor... hits hard...
5. THAT would suckass for a lvl 99/70 but it'd have to be something lik... seriously worthy of it. like tempban worthy >.>

Wrong. Most of our Guild actually did quit/retired whatever you want to call it. About 8 of our members and some add ons took force in Superstars. They had about our old numbers when we woe'd under Failures (10 maybe 12 people on a good day) but it was hard to keep even those with people's busy lives so they woe'd when they could. And when they couldn't they helped LI out with about 5 or 6 joining them from time to time. With that being said there are less guilds but you still got DR, Divi, LI, and whatever Rings can get to log for him and small non-factor guilds like Rep and EM.

Lots of things going on in this thread.. so this post will probably be long.

First off, GMs. Only really active one I've seen is 0806. Occasionally logging in, although appreciated, doesn't cut it. Time to hire more.
since I don't actually have the necessary commands, I can't do it without the help of a high GM, so that makes timing a bit difficult.
GMs that actually have the necessary commands. Just modify the internal levels or create a new type of gm that has only event commands. You don't need @item to give an event, prizes can be spawned beforehand and given to the GM to give out. Hell, if they can't trade, just have them make a prize novice for the stuff. That way higher GMs don't need to be on, and events can be when they want to do them.
Active staff has so many benefits.. but I'm not going to spend time on that now.  The problem is it's hard to find good help. I completely understand this, I sat as the only GM on my past servers half the time because I was the only competent GM. Those we did get in I trained until they went MIA.
I'd recommend something like this: http://www.animusro.com/forums/index.php/topic,110107.0.html Makes it impossible for corruption to be an issue. Only possible corruption is the GMs rigging events, but that's easy to tell. I would really, really consider this.

Next, main chat. Main chat can make it or break it. I've seen it used for many good things and it has so much potential, but man it can get ugly fast. The problem is when people start having whole conversations on it rather than taking it to PMs. Nothing wrong with short conversations.. but pure spam for an hour...
Then it gives way for drama. At one point I wanted to quit with all the mainchat drama. It was ridiculous.
We need more moderation, but not for the little "im selling X thing" and all those little violations that aren't really hurting anything. We need it for when things get out of hand. We need someone who can mute everyone involved for 10 minutes which forces everyone to cool down. It's amazing how much a 1 minute mute can do.
Harsher punishments? Do you guys really wanna get banned for a "looking for leech, pm me" in main chat? Oh well, if that's what you want, no problem. I thought 24h mutes were quite harsh, since I remember people kept crying about the ridiculously small 2-6h mutes for street vends and chats...
Oh god no. That's just going to make the problem worse. I know things are stressful and everyone is going to complain. That's what running a server is. Just ignore the fools.

Lastly, RO in itself is slowly dying. Not just this server, but everywhere. We do need upgrades, custom events, etc.. but this IS a slow dying game. We need to stick out from all the other servers. If we could find a way to reach out to the new generation of kids and bring them in, get them hooked, and get them to stay, we'd be set.

The server in general needs to be less bitter. Everyone here just seems angry. Maybe we need to start handing out some of those groin enlargement pills, maybe that would help...
Can that happen? I don't know. There should be more punishment for those players who troll new players. It should be harsher than the older players harassing fellow vets.

You know, if people would just JOIN the smaller guilds instead of running off and making guilds of their own, they'd be a factor.  As it stands, we mostly WoE against Prod and Rep.  Dark Hieix is right about most of the server being involved in one guild, but it's about 3 guilds that are the problem with their swarms of people.  The number of people in a single guild should be lowered to reflect the server pop.  Not drastically, just to maybe 30-50.  Alliances should be disabled altogether since they don't do anything for the ally anyway (which would prevent another Grand Lethal from forming, for those of you not old enough to remember GL was FOUR FULL GUILDS all allied together).

Avarie is also right.  Unfortunately RO, which IMO is better than those silly quest-based games where you don't raise your own stats but depend on gear to raise them for you (such as WoW and LotRo), IS a dying game.  It's old, and people don't want to play it as much because it doesn't have the pretty graphics of other games.  That's the most common reason I hear for people not wanting to play.  In order to revive our server, aside from doing things like posting to RMS and leaving reviews, we need to try and get some things going that no one else has.  Unique prizes like Sakura's Promise certainly help - my friend Val is back because she got one of those and loves it - as does custom content and events.  What we need to attract isn't necessarily new to RO people but those who've played on other servers and want something new.

Too bad there's about a 1% chance of people actually doing that. People go where their friends are and where they feel comfortable woeing. Let's keep it 100 Shiroe, most of the time you see maybe two or three EMs and Reps actually woeing/capping so people look at that saying 'why the hell would I want to spend two hours getting ran over in this guild when I can go somewhere else and have what little action woe does offer'. That's not a diss but I don't see many people flocking to those guilds anytime soon. Just saying....

Everyone wants to join the winning side.

Yep, I got picked on when I tried joining the winning side so had to go back on the losing side. From all the times of playing bg I've probably wasted so many pots and some edp when I could've made some zeny with 'em >:(
