Processing issues

3gb ram
Dell Studio 14
not sure about the graphic card, it says intel HD graphics
Screen res 1366x768

I've always played RO at 1360x768 and it has worked fine. the RO setup has 2 options Direct3d HAL and Intel HD graphics. Thing is... lately RO starts laggin on me after i play for a while... or when i encounter lots of effects (i've used /mineffect but never /effect since it kinda sucks). I know the lag is not server side, the whole thing gets slow. I just formatted my hard drive today cuz maybe i had lots of stuff running or a virus... but it didnt seem to help. any ideas?

Did you remember ever having "Direct3D T&L HAL" under the Setup settings before?

The other settings will not give you decent graphical performance; Without the T&L option it won't even reference the integrated GPU for rendering 3d elements, so all the load will be on your CPU.

This is my own experience though, as I have an laptop with Nvidia Optimus. Before they fixed their Optimus driver issues I could only use my i5's integrated GPU for aRO but wasn't able to get the T&L option with that integrated GPU.

I really didn't know what the difference was so I tried both, none really showed any difference... right now im in pvp using direct3d hal and im still laggin

If you don't see a "Direct3D T&L HAL" option it'll probably frame lag, sorry to say :<

oh... i see... no i dont have any option with a T&L... any way i can fix that?

Try updating the Intel graphic chipset drivers to the latest one, since you reformatted.

LOL well... i had version 8... latest is 15... i HOPE there's some big changes xD *installing*
Edit: nvm... they have 2 different versioning systems and mine is updated... ._.
I just went to my graphics settings and changed the 3d part to max performance... perhaps that should help quite a bit?

Sorry to hear that. I don't think it's because the integrated GPU is crap for RO, but it's just not being used at all for graphical processing (because T&L is not available).

I remember having crap frame rates during WoE because of that, before my laptop's GT 330M could be used. Then again I'm glad I have my desktop here for gaming.
