Mdef??
« on: May 18, 2011, 11:03:07 pm »
Can my magic def stop a monster from casting any form of skills or should I say miss skill attack on me? If so how can you tell how much mdef I need to stop a monster from casting/miss. Any example monster and how to calculate it? Thanks

if u have 100 mdef, all skill (single target magic spells), all miss will :)
i dont know how to give an example :(

i have used auto cast skills with sinx on a pally in pvp ( a card in muffler that launches fire ball by some chance) and it kept missing him almost all the time i cast. May be depends on ur dex as well as opponents mdef :)

100MDEF is only possible for Swordsman Class other class has max of 94MDEF. Im not sure if 100MDEF is totally magic immunity I think you will get damage very less but still you get some damage, but I do know you will get status immunity such as freezeing, stone curse etc... Anyway heres the attempt how you get 100MDEF

20 MDEF Kaho/Valk Helm
  5 MDEF Gibbet Mid Headgear
10 MDEF Silk Robe
35 MDEF Maya Valkyrie Shield
  4 MDEF Wool Scarf
10 MDEF Sleipnir
84 Total MDEF

10 MDEF 2x Rosary[0]
or
10 MDEF 2x Brisingamen [1]
or
6 MDEF 2x Rosary [1]

You also get an additional 10 Mdef from using Lvl 10 Endure.

Also, ignore Secks. It's usually a good rule of thumb around here.  ;)

Thanks for the info.

Also how can we know the amount of mdef one should have in order to make magic miss or how much reduction one can have = to mdef? How much mdef lets say I want to deal with a monster and I want to, if not totally avoid, being hit by its spell. Is there anywhere I can find it or to calculate it?

On your stat window, your Mdef says ###+### correct? I haven't played in a while, but I remember the first number being a percentage reduction given by gear that is calculated first. Say your mdef is 90+whatever; that means your reducing magic damage by 90%. The second number is given by your INT stat (and LUK? I don't remember). Any way, say your MDEF is 90+100. This means that you reduce 90% of damage, then take off 100 from whatever is left. So a JT that is supposed to hit you for 10k damage will hit you for only 900, since 10% of 10k is 1000, then subract 100, which is 900.

Also, cheaper MDEF gear is out there. Don't know your budget or whatever, but there are options if you aren't geared to the teeth.

Crystal Pumps (10 mdef, shoes), Wedding Dress (15 MDEF, body armor), Ragamuffin Manteau (10 MDEF, garment), MANY headgears (10 MDEF), Rosary [ 0 ] (5 MDEF)

Also, I believe 100 mdef is impossible now. I think the max is 95, which is achievable by any class. But honestly, that much is serious overkill, unless you fighting someone with HW of course.
Being able to totally avoid a spell is something else entirely, however. Back when we were Aegis, my ninja could walk around ignoring everything with Cicada, AutoGuard, Improv Def, and 100 MDEF, but many spells would still hit me for 1 damage, while others would miss. Doesn't make sense considering my MDEF should be blacking 100 + whatever, but that's what was happening.

I know about skills and melee attacks, but I was talking about spells. See?
