Is it suppose to give the extra 5 def to swordsmen even when the combo is not on because as it stands a +4 gives 13 def just by it self to swordies.

Yes. The combo gives even more defence.

hmmm i was always under the impression that only the shield gave the bonus to swordies with out the combo oh wells im not complaining ;P
