Which job is better for abyss lake?
« on: September 03, 2010, 03:10:22 pm »
I'm not really sure which class is better to hunt in abyss lake. I suppose High Wizard is good class for it. But HW has low hp and die fast. Can you guys give me some advices what class shall I use in Abyss Lake? And what gears are needed? Thanks :)

I wouldn't recommend High Wizard for abyss. Hydros and Detale are shadow property reducing your Magic quite a bit, and Gold acidus are holy dealing only like 50% damage + 69 Mdef.

Whitesmiths have been grounding there and having a high priest tag along works wonders.

never tried, but always thought hp with DDdr evang could do the trick there
lots of water there and no need for healing supplies  :police:

It seems the Whitesmith will typically endow with a cursed water first from what I was told.  So
that would fix the elemental issue with a Mjol.  A DBSS mace would also work fine, I imagine.  Beyond
that it'd likely be the typical WS gears.  Most of the enemies are large, so an executioner-card guard/buckler/stone buckler
would be the shield of choice. I personally wear a pasana-carded armor down there with a deviling muffler.  Vanberk mid would be nice.

You'd want either Eddga carded shoes / or DL Valks because of how mobby it is.  If you're soloing, accessories would probably vary.

Then the HP partner will cast aspersio to hurt the Hydros and Detale.  So if you're going to cursed water endow then you'd have to
avoid them.

Also...

Sharpshooting snipers also seem to do well down there while mobbing by adjusting their arrows.

You can also technically solo with a paladin with shield chain if they have an Aegis and a quad dragoon (earth petite) mace but
the above two would be much faster and less GJ spammy.  I personally just kill until my SP dries out.  And if I feel like taking a break I'll have my paladin sit at the entrance strip since dragons only infrequently come that close to the warp.

You could, but it wouldn't be particularly fast because of the dragon's elemental reduction; it's quite mobby down there.

I went down with a professor's Dragonology skill at max with a DDDr tome, and  I wasn't doing too much damage as memory serves.  A paladin with shield chain was easily out DPSing me in damage.

WS and Sniper are the best simply due to mobbing capabilities.

The only think you really need to watch out for while you're on WS is the Blue Acidus' wind attack which can do a LOT of damage (7k+) if you've got fire armor on (which you should, because it reduces the elemental attacks of all the other monsters there).
Characters~
Lots, all have "Raiyu's" in the name.

@murando good advice bro , sadly can't quote since iPhone wont let me.

@topic - I use garm rly helpful alot better than fire armor in my case. If friends tag along then we all use holy garm and mobs lead up to 15-20 monsters. Also sky petite and stone buck which leads to about 35% reduction. And dragon breath garment which adds another 15% less from dragon monsters. Put a devilin card in it too

It works pretty well, indeed.  You won't be going out mobbing; you can pull one at a time quite easily.  But that's not too bad since you can swap on a Dokebi armor for the Blue Acidus now.

Also good advice.  Didn't even think of the dragon breath garment.

Sinx aren't bad there, no.  Able to get good levels of vit to prevent stunning and flee to dodge most attacks, but it can get mobby so again support is prefered over healing items.

Also, Poison only does 50% damage against gold acidus so you'll have to remember to swap weapons off to get rid of poison.  Honestly you can just use Cursed water on Sinx and be on your way.

When using sinx, you can also use a Dragon Killer dagger which pierces dragon defense and you'll gain more experience from dragons, its either 10 or 20% more.
