This question is more dirrected to staff or those that know what they are thinking. I know the original reason for why items were made soul bound but since that did not work why exactly do the continue to be soul bound?

The orginal reason was so that they could not be sold. Once you made a SQI, you were stuck with it and it could not be sold to anyone. This was to turn a one time zeny sink of making a SQI into a continuous zeny sink. When not soul bound, it was a one time zeny sink since you only needed so many SQIs in a economy to satisfy those that have money for a SQI (though there are a few made from scratch because of those that later want an overuped SQI or for those that want one cheaper then market price, just not nearly as many). When it was made soul bound the plan was since no one could sell their old SQI when they got tired with the class, there would not be SQIs lingering around in the economy for new people interested in the class to buy. Thus a SQI would get made for everyone that ever got interested in that class and had the money for one. However account selling caused this to not work out.
Back to my original question, since it did not work out, why is it still done?

But it did work work out. Account selling doesn't neccessarily cause it to fail because money is being interchanged hands and it ends up being "sunk" when a player buys Ads and the Ads get used to transfer the character / change name / roll back / etc.
I sure don't see it failing, not at all, not 1 bit.
Edit: Sure, it's not removing 100's of millions each day, but do you have an idea about how many support tickets we get a day for Rollbacks (from Slingers), name changes and character move from 1 account to another? I'm not sure if I'm at liberty to say the exact number, but trust me, the original intent is still working.

Can it be changed soul-bound to account-bound?
Why? Because I have a slinger with VO and thinking to make a Super Novice and won't rollback my slinger(wanna use both slinger & SN) or won't make 2 VO(never).

Wasn't the actual intent to make a zeny sink? All that does is cause an ad sink not a zeny sink. Meaning even if you get a lot of tickets which soaking up ads to transfer gunslinger accounts, it is not pulling any zeny at all out of the economy. All it is doing is pulling ads out of the economy? So did you mean to even create a zeny sink at all? Also, why exactly did you feel the need to charge someone ads to sell their SQI when it wasn't done with any of the other SQIs?

well, the answer is simple. the SQI in its form itself causes ZENY SINK in first place !!
so, there is no reason to remove it from soul bound ... *Though i am against soul bound items*
suppose i make the SQI soulbound on my character, i wont sell it unless i have one more spare !!
Example: A WS knows how to make money with a MJOL.. he wont sell the mjol unless he can be sure he got other options to make money / level !
similar way, i wont sell a VO, without getting something more back in return ... *ZENY SINK* again for the buyer ofcourse !

The zeny still exists. This is just a piss-poor way to either: Get players to donate, or get players to buy ads from other players. Either way, zeny isn't being removed from the economy.

if u had a non-soul bound SQI, like mjol, u can use it on any BS / WS u got and level them to 99 !! make another SQI, using the Mjol on a BS or etc !!
That is not even a problem. With soul bound SQIs, you don't even have to make a second GS in the first place so why does it matter if a BS uses a mjol to get a second BS to 99.
u cannot use on other gunner to make it to 99 too :police:
Why does that even matter? You can make as many as you want with just one GS.
If anyone knows the actual reason I would like to know.

Besides, to my knowledge they seem pretty ok with idea of just making them account bound. Which isn't even remotely as terrible. Get over it.

You must have alot of time and alot of dedication for this game, the server could probably profit from this alot since alot more people will just donate to get the SQI's which is a pretty good idea. Don't know what to tell you but how much i hate your soul bound SQI idea, look how faster gunner SQI died, i barely see any gunners running around in this game. I rather just use a DBSS mace or DDTT bow instead of SQI if they become soul bound. SQI's take time and money. If i'm going to be limited that much then screw it, no need to make them.

All that does is increase the number of the SQIs that the economy needs in it before there are not really many new ones any more. They will just be swapped around.

It was simply made that way so they could put an ad cost on something that was normally free (a.k.a selling a SQI). Having to pay ads to sell an item to other players in game is not a path we should be going down on this server.

Just heard about this from a friend and i think its a bad idea. Not because the SQI are being sold or anything like that but I myself share everything on my account with my wife. Her and i make SQI together(1 of Each SQI so we can share them through out our charas) If you make them account bound it would hurt alot of people. Couples and friends that share them. If its a means to just stop selling the SQI then i think its a bad idea personal. I think alot of people who do make only one of each would just suffer like myself and my wife. We wouldnt be able to play each class anymore like we have now with our 2 SQI current that we farmed out ourselves and never bought. Half the people buy SQI the other Half i say work hard to get what they have. It would be almost like punishment for some people.
Forgot to add. I also think some plays might quit do to they will not want to maybe "farm money another way" or they wouldnt be able to move the SQI to other accounts that they have made other charas on. Remember only lately accounts have made it so you can make more then 5 charas on one Account....

Do you fully comprehend the power of a fully "geared" novice? Yeah, it's definately worth punishing, in my opinion. And no, it's not the same. We aren't going to take a SQI that is intended for a Trans Class and double it just because its tradeable. It's more like, punishing a Class that wants to use a item which was not intended for it to use.

The only new SQIs that are going to be soulbound are just the Extended Classes - not the old ones. There's an idea about SQIs that most players aren't really understanding. When a player decides to make an SQI, it's because they've played the class and understand its capabilities. The point of the SQI is to get the maximum potential out of it, not for "making and reselling" like that just because. If you really like the GS class, making a SQI is not something that you'll regret, then, because it's an item that REAL Gunslinger players actually want, since it was designed by GSers, for GSers. Another plus to the weapon being soulbound, is the cheapness. You can make a VO with 100mill, easily.
The only people, or the MAJORITY of the people that are bringing these threads up are those that want to use them on both, their SN and GS. The VO wasen't intended for the SN, and therefore now that it's "inconvenient" they are complaining about it.
Also, I do still play, but I don't let my ideas as a regular player really interfere with my discussion as a staff. Granted, it allows for common sense things, but yeah, it's two separate things.
If I ever speak as a player and not a staff, I'll say something like: "In my opinion, not reflecting the staff or to do with the staff is the following [...]" etc.

Someone had made the comment that they should make a suggestion to be hated and suggest that all SQI become soul bound, and I (sort of) joking said that I would totally support it. :P As much as I'd love for the current SQI to become Soul Bound/Account Bound, it won't be happening. :(

I guess its just my opinion but I don't see making something harder to get a punishment for an item you only need to get once. That is just making it more expensive. For example the power of an item is based solely on what is on the item itself. The tier of the item is based solely on how hard it is to get.
