Johnsu o_O If that's how that went down, I would highly recommend a ticket, because that's not how that should have gone down, you should not have paid anything if you just picked the item up.

Also, people could be dropping items easily because someone else is maliciously logging onto their account and dropping stuff.  It's not always the actual player dropping said items.

I didn't give it back because I didn't know if he was the true owner, and he only asked for it after I said to a friend that I found it.

Happens to me too, I'm sitting in pront i got actually muted for shouting spam... then suddenly someone request a deal on me then i accept it. then he put bk awe confirm then trade and send to me. when i got the item i was thinking fuck it might be stolen i got to give it back or I'm screwed. but I'm still muted cant send any msg to him so i dual client and ask the guy...hes Malaysian i didn't know that in his chat hes already freaking out for making mistake. then ask him if hes really giving out his item and hes thankful that i ask him coz he didn't even remember the name whom he traded the item...so when he said he wants it back i just give it back to him without second thought! maybe its just me being kind!... LOL

If they were dropping things on purpose you should totally charge them half the recovery fee to give it back.

Well i think your friend should give back.If he only asked for the kaho's back i think he was just droping some junk from storage and dropped his kaho's by mistake.

Once i was in town and this girl traded me a DBSS, IC gears, alot of items. And I was like wtf?? I kept on saying did you mean to give this to me but she was ignoring me. I use the gears for an hour or so, go back to where she was and I hear her saying she thinks she accidentally traded it to someone, so i traded it and gave it back. I believe deeply in karma myself xD. but once again i only made this post for a friend, and the friend already lost the kahos =p

this week, someone drop traded a kahos in geffen and i picked it up. i returned it. theres no benefit to keeping it because they will pay 10ads-30ads and you will lose it anyways. the gms are quick with tickets like that.
