Use ctrl alt delete and make sure there isn't a program running you're not sure about. I used to have an issue that my filesharing program was switched to auto-start and I didn't realize it was on and sharing.

If it started just a few days ago, why not try doing a system restore to the point where it was okay?  It might help.  Sometimes my computer goes a bit slower, system restore, and I'm all set.   Hope it helps.

Okay, call your cable company, and open up IE.  They'll give you the address, type it into the search bar, and then go into the settings and disable your internet for about..10 minutes.  I used to have the cable internet before I got the DSL from Bellsouth, and I used to have problems.  There's also a few settings in there you could fiddle with to get it running a bit faster, but I wouldn't reccomend it, cause I'm not sure you'd know what you're doing. =/
