Long story in short;

The magical damage of the mage class is based on INT.
INT = Damage.
DEX = Cast Time (The more dex, the faster you cast - 150 DEX = Instand Cast)
Vit = Health. (The more vit, the more HP you'll have)

I think those are the basics to know.

basically...lvl up your int & dex to the max & put some for vit.......
if u r rich...buy all the +dex gear & your dex will have higher priority to lvl up first
if u r poor....lvl up your int first because u just need to use soul strike which is very fast castiing magic even with low dex..then lvl up yourself in payon dungeon,,then TF..then prison..then churchyard..then niff...collect a lot of money & then buy dex gear afterward......good luck..

if u play in prison (the best place to lvl mage i guess) with mage ,u can max your int and spam soul strike..
attck & run..dex is not important for mage since mage dont have important skill that require cast time..
& their stat point is limited too..when u trans to wizard ,dex is require to cast more fast (storm gust ,LOV ,JT etc)

hm without gear/ Ic its an awful easy to leveling clas. Yesterday i made again an mage wich have had only the Staff from jobchange and 50 Meat. Start an new Char /novicegear level until u have joblev 10 in Payon dungeon. Jobchange and now u nead the meat to get Joblevel 5-10 (10 would be better). Than warp to Lighthalz City Cast Firebolt (lev 5 or 10 i killed them wit level 15/5 mage Yesterday :p ) on metalings and run out of the Screen after u casted it (that way they dont hit u). Ur awful fast around lev 35/25 so warp to Einbroch City and kill north of it some Geographer,Holdings and Metalings and thats the time u skill the first Dexpoints. Frostdrive 10 and Firebolt 10 is all u nead until u change 3 or 4 houers after Charcration to the firstjob Wiz or saga and that without anny gear ...... When u see 2 Geographers wich heal the otherone cast Frostdrive on 1 of them and Firebolt on the one u kill.

Skills first Int until u have 50+ than some dex ..... for 1:1 thats all u nead ......

Result after ~4 h would be an level 60-70/50 mage think thats ok without gear

yeah2........but if u cant afford to buy dex gear...just stick with max int even if u r already a wizrd...because..without dex gear..your SG/LOV/JT is still awfully slow even with high dex..

hmm...use phen card if u cant afford buy dex gear.....use safety wall & then SG in niff...i did that when i was noob 2 years ago...
