How do you set an auto message?

I've tried pming people sometimes and they have an automessage, I was wondering how I could set one

I forgot the parameters, but it's /am followed by something. I think a text entry box pops up after that.

I always just put "/am afk" and entered "afk" for the box afterward.

just /am will do. the (away) sign is there, followed by "insert text here" in the box that follows
