The number of people in a single guild should be lowered to reflect the server pop. Not drastically, just to maybe 30-50. Alliances should be disabled altogether since they don't do anything for the ally anyway (which would prevent another Grand Lethal from forming, for those of you not old enough to remember GL was FOUR FULL GUILDS all allied together).
I agree with this. This server used to have a 1-2k population, correct? A 76 cap was important for then because there were enough players. Now the population has dropped, and the server needs to change accordingly.
Problem is, the big guilds already have 76 members, so cuts will need to be made on their part, and that's never fair for the new guy to get kicked out.
Alliances have always been a tricky discussion that I've always been on the fence about. If two guilds are dominating everything, the other guilds get sick of losing and either join, quit woe, or quit all together. If this is happening, something needs done.
Furthermore, the majority of RO vets looking to join a new server are woe and pvp based. They want intense woe. They want to be able to build up to woe fast, and then they can work on their endgame gear. Maybe we can try to make woe a little better here?
Things we've used in the past to get woe going were modifying the treasure box drops, not to anything OPd, but to useable items that the whole server loved. There was motivation to woe again, because you could get something out of it.
Since these players want to be able to woe as fast as they can, they want BG. I've had countless players join the server, find out BG wasn't enabled, and leave on the spot. You guys DO have BG, now it's time to spice it up so people want to play for the rewards and get that woe gear. Right now the participation in BG is limited to an hour or so after woe.
I'm sure these SQIs are fun and everything, but that's endgame. You don't need SQIs to level or have fun.
Another thing that could help the server at the same time, and give the new players a preview, is rentable SQIs. No one is going to want to pay out $5 a day for an SQI, but it's great to give them a feeling of what they are working for. Another benefit is vet players can rent them just to try out the SQIs they don't have, and see if they'd like to buy one.
Another thing is most everyone I've talked to seems to think you need to have IC to play. This is certainly not the case, I purposefully don't have IC just because the gear slots I would have to use to get it can be used by more efficient gear. This whole misconception needs cleaned up.
