It's an odd possibility, but Thanatos (just like Ice Pick) will rewrite any damage formula for ATK (including piercing) and replace it with its own ATK calculation which also pierces defense.
I really would prefer confirmation on this concept of whether it works with Asura, I've talked about it on another thread and nothing came of it. (Likely because almost no one has a Thanatos card to speak of.)
