Depending on what class you are, there are many places you can make some income. Here's a few examples:

Swordsman: Cakes from myst cases sell for 3kish each. (How much for vending?)
Acolyte: Heal spamming in GH prison and selling the Elus - 10k each
Archer: Same as acolyte


I'm not sure about magi to help, but hopefully you're not one.

^ For Mages, having a tank would be best.  Otherwise...run like hell!  XP  Personally, I liked having Soul Strike and Fire Bolt in prison.  Also, Bent Spoons from prison sell well (3k or so?) and they don't weigh much, unlike Elunium.

Yeah Pyro is right, instead of Elus you can also sell spoons as an alternative. Make a merchant that can use that one Overpricing skill to npcs...
