Is playing BG with alts to get rewards illegal?

I'd rather promote it for this certain aspect, just so some newbies can client the shit out of it for at least a mediocre set to join WoE or something with. Which is really what everyone wants anyway is it not? More participants for WoE? It isn't like anyone with those gear sets + weapons are just suddenly going to out shine those with the actual top tier billion zeny gears + sqi's.

Define 'newbie.'
I know for a fact that at least two people were less than 6 months on the server, and doing BG so that they would have decent gear.

And like has been stated before; if someone has that many characters and that much time, why not let them? It literally can't effect the economy since the stuff is bound to your character.

THEN once it did get started, those who I was with who were doing BG with an interest of gears had no chance against those who were doing it just to show off their gears.

That's another reason why the alts method was convenient. Losing gives you one medal as opposed to three. Since I'm not all that well-geared in comparison to a lot of players, I was essentially just praying I'd get the winning team. That happened about 50% of the time at most.
Assuming that I won exactly half the times I played, it'd take me 4 hours and 10 minutes of non-stop Tierra to get the item I want.
Considering that BG goes on about once or twice a day (when averaged out), and a lot of people find Tierra to be "too boring" and therefore only do Flavius, I'd be screwed. I'd end up getting a SoM before the item that statistically should take much less long to farm for.

Due to they can at least get their hands on some descent gear, and not feel stuck all their life.

This. BG makes me think, "Hmm, I'll have a nice weapon to tide me over the fifty gazillion years until I can get a SoM." Before, when I was looking at the 150 million zeny to make an uncarded SoM (I'm not even gonna try hoping to get a carded one) I was really tempted to quit. Who really wants to spend months just to get PVP gear?

How do you get into BG anyway?

What characters are the best to use?

Whatever character you want the gear on. You can't kafra or trade any of the gear or medals, so you need to use the char you want the gear to go to.

I see this as a way for new players to actually get a foothold in this server, which is what this server needs.

I don't know the specifics on weapons, I'll leave that discussion to you folks.  From what I understand it's not better than the current gear the better players have.  If something is OP it can easily be nerfed.

What are the benefits of doing BG to older players? Lesser weapons then they currently own, and a bordeom cure?  At any rate, if we allow them to farm BG they can sell these weapons (they're not soul-bound, correct?) to the newer players.  If there are a lot in the economy the price will be cheap and affordable for the newbies.

They ARE soulbound. The only way to get one of those weapons is to do it yourself, and using the character you plan to equip it on.

Also, am I the only one who thinks 3v3 should be made available as well? ;-;

Well, I think the best part about this, is people are arguing how you need aspd and such to really be able to use them, blah blah blah.

What they don't all know is the person doing it (who got reported) plays paladin, they can utilize the rewards by simply standing around and having the bonus damage proc through reflect.  Which is why we're not allowing the alts to be used.  Lowering the number of people it takes to start it is certainly a possibility, and actually had been discussed in the past before we even finished the transfer by myself and talis.

As to don't take it away, the newbies can utilize it, I really don't think it's a good idea, if you wanna use it, find some friends, it's not hard to join a friendly guild, have a match.  Especially if we lower the requirements to get in to a lesser number.

You misinterpreted me.  I never supported duel clienting in that statement nor did I say "once you're a newbie you can't do it"
I stated you can modify and utilize this thing as something to help new players.  Old players eventually quit. The future of this server is in our new players and in this server they definitely need help. If a player feels he can't get anywhere then he is most-likely going to quit.

I'm well aware, I'm just suggesting that the guide be advertised for new players, and perhaps have the actual BG geared towards new players.  Old players won't benefit from BG how it is currently.. so it can go in a few directions.  I can stay as it is and not really be used; It can be geared towards helping newbies; It can be geared towards older players.
I see the most success in the newer players.

Hell even I'd start/make a guide towards it but the way BG is currently I don't see it as being effective for any of those routes. I'm suggesting we bring up discussion on how to modify BG to lead it in one of those directions.
