Most likely it is because you were Street chatting, Kill stealing, or looting.

I'm not exactly sure I understand.

Basically, it's in the rules, that if you killsteal, you'll be muted. So not knowing that really isn't a good excuse.

When you make an account, you agree that you have read and understand the rules. It's not the GM's fault you didn't read the server's rules, but yours alone.
