Who is best to PM about something I'd prefer to talk about in private?
it is something only a GM can handle, and I'd just not prefer wasting time creating a ticket about it as it could be resolved quickly.

Contrary to popular belief, some tickets are also resolved rather quickly. 
Simple questions (and maybe tech support as well) through forum PMs are OK, but if there are any accounts or items involved, please submit a support ticket (unless otherwise instructed); this way, it's easier for us to handle.

I can't just view any profile I'm told,
I'm best off sending a support ticket, or am I just missing something silly about PM'ing as i remember doing it through peoples profiles.
