Fail Full Installer =/

Wow, i dont even know what to say. Ive been playing ragnarok for 6 years so i know what im doing. I was going to move to this server, but seeing something this unprofessional makes me wonder if this server is worth my time.

So i download the Full installer and i start to get a crap-ton of sprite errors as soon as i log in. Why is this happening?
So i go to the forums to find out how to fix it. Oh, i need to update sakray, Okay, sounds easy.
So i go into my install folder to update sakray. Oh wait, What? The full installer does not come with sakray? Failure. That would mean its actually not a FULL installer.
How pathetic =/ Your so-called full installer comes with Ragnarok_RE, and not sakray. That makes it only a partial install. You guys need help.
You also need a new web designer. Your front page is pretty boring and lame, no offense.

You most likely don't need to update your Sakray, since Sakray has been discontinued for like one and a half years now, and the full installer already contains an up-to-date sdata.grf. You need to use the animuspatch.exe to patch the server related abdata.grf and Ragnarok_RE.exe to patch the official Ragnarok renewal rdata.grf (which is practically the continuation of the old sdata.grf). But I'm sure you already know that with your 6 years worth of Ragnarok knowledge!

Actually i already tried both of those things. Everything seems to be up to date and it still isnt working.
IF your server no longer uses sakray, then perhaps you guys shouldnt say that it DOES use sakray in both the forums AND the download page.

Lets see, on the download page, it clearly says:

ONLY use the conversion installer if the following condition is met:

    * I used to play on a different server and I am sure that my Sakray is up to date.

If the above case does not apply, please go ahead and download the FULL installer!

So, i download the full installer, and update, and im still getting errors.

So i go to the troubleshooting forums, and i read this:

Hmm, it seems to clearly state in the TUTORIAL of your server, that i need to update sakray, which from what you tell me, this server doesnt even USE sakray. Interesting.
Oh, not to mention, the up-to-date links in the TUTORIAL are broken.
And dont tell me "This tutorial is old, you shouldn't be using it" Because its stickied on your forum. If it is old and shouldn't be used, then someone should have removed it long ago.

The server USES the sakray files packed in sdata.grf, but you won't need to update it anymore, since there are no more updates for it, they have been discontinued in June 2009. Instead, you need to update rdata.grf with Ragnarok_RE.exe.

Can you post screenshots of some of the sprite errors? It might help figureing out what's wrong with your installation.

IT'S WORTH A TRY! Besides, you can't really say that after a mere two posts. It's also possible that he's just a frustrated new player.

This post is from April 2009. The server has undergone several changes in between, most notably a server software change. I.e. that post is outdated.

And dont tell me "This tutorial is old, you shouldn't be using it" Because its stickied on your forum. If it is old and shouldn't be used, then someone should have removed it long ago.

Yeah i suppose i can but none of them are really readable.
And, starting just now, My ragnarok RE wont open. Which has never happened before.
I opened it to try to patch again, and it just opens a half-window of nothing, basically. Ill show a screenshot of that too, even though i doubt it will help.

This is pretty much what i see when i open Ragnarok_RE.exe It doesnt seem to be trying to load, and ive let it sit there for several minutes with nothing happening.
The box in red is what RagnarokRE looks like when i open it.


I get several Sprite Errors when i log in. Over 10. And eventually one of the errors causes the game to crash.
Wow you know what, thats pretty lame. I didnt update anything, and this time i log in and i get no errors at all.
I come here and complain, and THEN it works. Ive been trying to get this to work for a few hours, and suddenly it fixes for no reason =/

Alright well, thanks. I will apologize for seeming offensive, but i was a bit annoyed after two hours of errors.
But, i will still stick to some of my words. You guys need a more in depth-tutorial.
I also seem to.. find a lack of much information on this server at all, in general.
I dont see a list of available @commands anywhere, it would be nice to know if this server has autoloot, or main chat, or @whosells, and that kind of stuff.
There probably should also be a tutorial to tell new players where your job changer, resetter, and other npcs are located..

The server might indeed seem to lack some real tutorials or FAQs, however, they recently added a wiki which should try to deal with those problems, and add all the information that appears to be lacking on the forums: http://animusro.wikispaces.com/
A new website is in the works, and will be added in the foreseeable future. I'm sure they will then add a few more infos on the homepage. The current one seems more like a temporary solution due to the server software change from Aegis to eAthena in April/May this year.
