I would have to disagree. If everyone likes it, then doesnt just that make it a good idea?
Of course not. For example: Everyone would love to be exempt from Taxes, right?
However; those taxes pay for a huge amount of public services, like education.
So no taxes=No education. And is therefore a horrible thing.

Just because everyone likes it; doesn't make it a good idea.

maybe its simply so people don't flood the general discussion with suggestions.

like, a place the GM's ignore for everyone to go get out all of their 'geniusnesses'.
or whatever the kids are calling it these days.

You cant compare a game, to irl. Especially not a thing like taxes.. If everyone likes the idea, in a game server, then that have got the be the perfect definition off a good idea.

Well it just sucks not knowing if they have actually seen it and checked if it's possible and stuff. :l
So true..

Let's say one GM voices support of an idea; then later down the line, another GM - Lets say a coder reveals that it's impossible.
A GM isn't supposed to have another GM correct him/her; and though I'd love to see more feedback from the GM team,
they need to be 100% sure of something, before they say it; or else you get people moaning constantly.

Just because everyone likes a suggestion, doesn't mean it's possible, and more importantly, doesn't make it a good idea.
I'd say maybe 10% of suggestions or less are really "Great" idea's that have a possibility of being completed.
I would have to disagree. If everyone likes it, then doesnt just that make it a good idea?

The problem is: define EVERYONE.

Maybe 20 people or so go on forums to support a topic.  This server has about 400-500 actve players, who's to say they ALL support it?  Either way, there's bigger things at hand and other projects underway.  Talis is doing a LOT behind the scenes that you and I will probably never see, but in the long run WILL benefit the server.

Yes, I can compare them. If you want an ingame example; you just need to think.

I'm sure basically everyone would want a promotional Celeb ring right? Why sure, you'd get a huge
number of the population who'd want the GM's to give away one promotional Celeb ring for an Event.
But hey; what happens to the price of celeb rings once you introduce hundreds of free new ones to the market?
So; hundreds of people would want it; but would it really be a 'good idea?' Of course not.

Again, just because everyone likes it; does not make it a good idea.

The fact that you see GMs posting on the forums, means they're checking the suggestions every so often.  Some of them, just don't know what to say and don't have the training to answer to the demanding public.  In fact, there are times where I have to advise some of them here and there, that what they're saying isn't very kosher and should rethink their wording when they do.

Just give it time for them to pick up the reigns and become more managerial (Adrift)

Though, to be honest, after Debbie, suggestions were responded to a lot more than they were back in the day.  Debbie completely, flat out, ignored my whole "Save the World" idea ;[  And Harken said he didn't want to give ad credit for it ;[

And really, see: website project thing.

The website was in production/works for a while before that suggestion was even put up. Now, just because the player didn't see it being worked on or mentioned to them, she kept bumping her thread every so often until I got fed up with it, and posted what the website would look like so the players would shut up.

Things take a while to work on, especially when it comes down to the nitty gritty of coding.  A lot more details need to be worked out before something can be implemented, not just, "Hey this sounds like a good idea, let's put it in!" Pro's & Cons need to be weighed out, and every possible situation to break the suggestion needs to be played out in order to ensure that the suggestion, does not have any negative out comes in the end.
