Naming Homunuculus

So...

I was sitting in a town.  A biochemist approached my
Vanilmirth and me; made this comment:

"Here's a tip.  You shouldn't name your homunculus
until its 99 and loyal otherwise it gets half the
stats it would normally have. You should start over."

I've never heard any evidence to support this.
So I was wondering if this was a b.s. statement
to just be a jerk?

My first impression was it was very much b.s.

However, I guess I couldn't just bring myself to level the blob a bit more until I got a confirmation.  ^^;
