questions about valk gears and refinement

i finally decided to get some calk gears but my friend who has the whole set said that some of the valk armors can break after lv. 2 refinement, is this true or not?

They go till +4. All non weapon items go till +4.
Anyhow the NPC gives you a warning if it is in the dangerous range ::)

Out of curiousity who was your friend?
