That wouldn't do it. Would be ideal to test two distinctively different DEF breakpoints. Such as 100, and 120. Atroce would probably be a good test dummy actually.

If you have 100 def, you would either be taking no dmg, or 1% depending on if monsters will always do at least 1% dmg.
And it is impossible by what I've seen to even get 120def. A fully geared pally with all +10 gears can barely make 100def. And, even if you could get 120, it would be useless, because you will already be taking 0-1% dmg.

That isn't exactly true. I'm using quite a bit of +7's and such, and manage 102 DEF. If I had all +10 gear, I probably wouldn't have 120, lol.. but I dunno.. maybe 112~15'ish.

Also for not getting hit at all. That also isn't true. DEF doesn't block skills too much, if at all. It can water down the damage significantly for sure, but usually never entirely. DG is a good example of that. It's also more than 1%, Valkyries are proof enough. Keep in mind as well that the more on you, the more your total DEF is falling too. So having more is still always a good thing. (Just highly unlikely to obtain the gears to keep doing so after a certain point, due to too much difficulty/money)

With your mindset though, I could simply walk up to an MVP and never get hit with a Physical Melee Attack, due to having a lot of DEF. Not going to happen my friend. :<

If you only have +7's then you don't have 102 def. Do you know that every + on ur armor only gives 2/3def point? Was pointed out in this thread.
So, unless all your armor pieces have like 10base def each, your not getting 102def.
Also, it's only vit def that gets lowered when you have more monsters on you, not armor def. There is a big difference between the two.
Armor def decreases dmg by 1% per 1point of it. Vit def lowers the dmg taken by 1dmg per 1 point of it.
Maybe your adding your vit def and armor def together or something?

Lol, I doubt it. I'll post a SS later perhaps, when I feel like gearing it up again.

Window says: 99+125 (DEF doesn't register beyond 99 on Window)

I don't see how that's possible with +7's though :P
I spent quite some time calculating it and could only get 100def with fully geared pally with +10gears

I know, but with those and +10 gears I could only manage to reach 100def o.o
ex:

+10BK Valk = 8def + 3 for BK + 6.66 for +10
BK Mid = 1def + 3 for BK
PCB = 5def
+10Garm Legion Plate = 11def + 10 for garm + 6.66 for +10
+10Aegis Shield = 8def + 6.66 for +10
+10LoD Pauldron = 5def + 3 for LoD + 6.66 for + 10
+10 DL Sleips = 5def + 6.66 for +10
Bris = 5def
Bris = 5def

== 105.3def

Now, please tell me how you got 102 with +7's

That's your mistake right there. You're relying on more difficult items. Some aren't even realistic. +10 Aegis/+10 Valk Helm; Do you even see yourself -ever- having those? I don't see the point calculating something like that.

Magni set is what I use. Crazy bonus DEF to Swordsman classes. IE: Stone Buckler, Odin Blessing, Magni Cap

Can get 90 def easily with +7's with that set o.o
Didn't even know it gave bonus def to swordsman class D:
