Title: Changing to eA and character or username
Post by: Ledum on April 18, 2010, 07:31:31 pm
I already read the news announcement about the sooner change schedule.... It ws mentioned that te players would be the one to do the transfer of acount. So meaning if you heard the news abut this then you would be able to do that. But if you are at the meantime inactive then your account would be left behind in the old data/server. Tell me if im right,,,
Now my concern is what if, when the new aRO is running, somebody CREATE AN ACCOUNT OR CHARACTER NAME that is already exist in old aRO,,, and then the inactive player log in or transfer his account to new aRO, what are the possibilities that might happened?????
Im just worried not for me but to those who are currently inactive. I was once in a while inactive too. But for sure I am here when we move to eA. :o

Id imagine there would be some sort of simple data file with character names that gets checked when you make a new guy

Likely this. It'd create massive problems if usernames that were used on the old server, get remade on the new server. The GMs have likely already thought of this, and should have something to keep usernames from overlapping. I don't think you guys have to worry too much D:

Pretty sure the beta accounts will be overwritten/erased. Or, the beta will be moved, and you will be moving your information to a "clean" eA server. I'm dumb and missed the OPs point.
I think the module is just there to test, and then after that all of the accounts will just automatically be switched over. I'll get a definite answer when Talis wakes up.

Going to use 1 of my non used accounts to try transfer first if its safe. I have 5 years worth of collectible items in diff accounts an would hate if something went wrong with the transfer /heh *only bad time to have many accounts ~.~*

I should have made an inventory check, just in case.

Just giving the official confirmation that this was indeed correct.

When the time for the switch comes the following actions will be taken:
1) All eAthena Beta Files will be backed up, then the originals erased. The entire server will be put into a empty mode.
2) All aegis files will be played into the fresh eAthena.
The result will be eAthena with only the old accounts, no accounts of beta will be kept.
