Title: Is it possible to remove an IP and Account ban?
Post by: whitepaperplanes on October 31, 2009, 05:03:24 pm
Is it possible for exceptions? My friend got banned because of her brother being stupid and advertising another server (okay he was like younger twelve. I even told him twice to stop). Right after she got banned she couldn't do anything so she just quit playing Ragnarok all together. I've convinced her to play again but she can't actually play. She's a very respectable player, and it's a great loss to the server to have blocked her out >: There are players who can say this and we've seen her brother act up. As well as this, if we get a thorough apology from her brother, will the lift of the ban be considered?
If it is possible, how do we carry out this? (ticket etc?)

Best thing for you to do is take this to support tickets. I'm not sure how you can prove she wasn't the person at fault but the GMs are the ones to ask.

Something this petty could be overturned.

Bans are VERY rarely overturned, mainly because it's hard to prove that this person's brother actually did what you may say.  That's kind of the problem with people sharing an IP, it happens with stuff like gaming cafe's and such.  It's certainly worth a ticket, but I would not go in with any high hopes.

is the only way to prove it is like show like evidence that the person playing wasnt you? or a very nice persuasive essay?

I really can't say what exactly would work as "proper evidence" to get it overturned, and I won't try to give any possible examples, just because I'm not a GM, and I would not be in charge of overturning it.  I assume there must be SOME way to be unbanned, but I won't say that it'll happen.  I definitely would not say don't give it a shot, at least if it's tried, you can say you tried.

Show them your family picture ??

Omg there is no evidence for something like that most likely your Ticket will be closed directly or ditched for another xxx years but at least she can try it .

And what, if her brother had his own username, password and characters..and they were sharing computer only. There is no chance to proof that? Maybe that would help  :-\

Chances of her getting unbanned is incredibly low, but it doesn't hurt to submit a ticket. If he had his own forum account, and she had her own forum account, the High GMs can sometimes differentiate players if purchases were made. If he did it on one of her accounts, she won't be unbanned.

Doesn't hurt to submit one, but the general rule is that you're responsible for what goes on with your IP.

All I can think of proper evidence are the logs.

As mily and others, I'm friend with this girl and I saw how her brother advertised in the middle of pront.
Of the facts of that time and that I can barely remember is... Her bro was in ~~Legends~~ guild.

Mmm i dont know if it can be done but, if gms have access to her and his account, you could see the diference of tier they were, a.f.a.i.k. and could use that as proof the two of 'em are distinct people.

All in all, I thought perma ban is perma ban and cant be overturned, thats why I didnt try anything to bring her back, but if something is needed, I can fully support Deva to come back here.

Thanks Mily

Then every innocent guys that banned from playing at cyber cafe have their shot? Similar scenario, different rulebreaking amirite
