Title: EXTREME Lag spikes?

I'm having terrible lag spikes.

I can walk normal for about 3-4 seconds every so often, but then it just hangs, no one moves, nothing happens, then it speeds up all of a sudden, and like fifty things happen at once.

I can cast Magnifcant, Angelus, Assumptio and Bless at the same time; or cast 4-5 heals in one cast.
I can body relocate around by clicking.


It's NOT Dyefire, I've closed it, and all of that.
It's NOT Sakray, or any error like that.



I have a pretty good connection too, so it's not like I'm on a 56K.. I use a Cable Modem, on a router :<

It's never lagged like this, and it just started doing it yesterday.. Left me alone for most of the day, but it was still really glitchy.



Is there some way to fix this..? Or at least Prevent it? I have NOTHING aside from RO open, and it's still lagging like hell.

Edit: I'd like to point out I live in an EST Timezone.. So the server moved CLOSER to me, and I'm laggier now.

Are you in some crowded place like prontera or skellington? I've been lagging a little in skellington but not as bad as what you have described. maybe turn off effects?

lol, Dyefire actually will decrease lag in most cases.

No, I'm alone in Alberta, way off to the right, with no NPCs OR Spells being cast.

It's a bit worse in crowded areas too.

Dyefire was on, but I closed it to see if it had any change.

Lags with or without dyefire.

it happened to me too a couple of weeks ago, i got lag spikes for 3 days,but now its fine..

lag is every where, most peoples lagging badly, i think server need reboot......

Yeah.. Even with PMs, and Chatboxes, even NPCs!

Maybe it's due to the Fireworks, so many of them being spammed lags the server, or something :< ;~~;

EDIT:

It's not the fact that my internet is being shared.. The internet loads perfectly, and other games don't lag.

Only Anthem is lagging for me.

Agh, I know, but it's near impossible to play with the current lag ;~;

Why would it randomly get laggy? It was never like this before.

Definately not alone, I've been having this for the past few days now, todays been the worst though.

I really have no speculation as to what it could be, word from the GM's will roll around soon and then we can start ruling things out.

I don't really understand though, have we not been updated because the code for > 10.2 hasn't been released for Aegis (publically released) or is it because the person who used to deal with our updating is no longer with us and nobody present is able to?

Little bit of both to my understanding, if you look at the staff list we don't have a tech guy at the moment. I have heard other private servers which use aegis have updates past our own.

I've been getting lag spikes all of a sudden ingame, my screen will freeze for a few seconds or minutes (during which time I can heal myself, attack monsters etc. but it doesn't show) then suddenly the lag stops and every skill I'd cast when my screen is frozen casts all at once...
Haven't died from the lag, yet. ^-^

These lag spikes occur in skellington while I"m niffing. It hella pisses me off cuz I"ll be attacking a huge mob and meating then it freezes so I stop meating, then suddenly the lag disappears but everything is sped up and I die -_-
Or I'll be walking in niff and it freezes but I keep holding the mouse button and my char will speed up to that direction and yea. It's outrageous folks ._.
Does this happen to anyone?

I still can't say for sure if this is the cause, but I was online two nights ago during the day (when this became really bad for me) yet when it turned about 4-5 in the morning(GMT+0) it all went away and i was 100% fine, i tryed going to pvp,skellington,prison and pront. All was fine.

It seems likely thats to do with the amount of people online, I'll do the same test again maybe tonight or another night and see if it fixes itself in the same way, if it does then its obvious that its the servers problem, if not then it was a random occurance and the problem still is an X factor.

Hell yea guys >:(! It happened after the fire crackers and mvp raid and stuff. So maybe if the GM's remove those firecrackers, that gay lag at niff will go away >_<

Cuz like yo... I wanna make some money and I can't do it while lagging every 5 minutes and dying.

Or they can upgrade their computers, either way works I guess.

I stopped lagging for about a day, but it started back up yesterday.

Posting back to say I'm STILL lagging, yes, today I was also having lag spikes as well..



EDIT: This is just fucking retarded, it's impossible to play like this.

Can a GM fix this? Is it fixable? is it a known issue? C'mon =[

What's going on GM's? Aren't the donations enough to upgrade to a better server?

Shit, I keep telling you all, it's not the server. The server is EXTREMELY good, and under normal circumstances it would be fine, but we have Aegis, so it fails.

Also, anytime a GM has to do Database queries, there will be lag. So the bottom line is stop submitting support tickects and reports that would require the GMs to perform queries. If you lose your items, that's your own fault.

Even my Wife is experiencing lag now..

Why do only cetain people experience this..? Everyone else has never experienced this type of lag before.
