Title: Gym Pass Question
Post by: exDragon on October 20, 2009, 10:42:37 am
Is the skill it teaches you seperate from the merchant one or can merchants not use it to increase weight limit capacity since they already have the skill?

It's an item that exists in the official RO servers which temporarily increases your weight capacity. It works with all classes, and it isn't a skill. Think of it as similar to Dex food, except instead of increasing your dex, it increases your weight capacity.

Quote from: Gym Pass description on Ratemyserver
A membership card at a training facility that helps you increase your strength. This card will grant you an one time access to training, just show it to the trainer NPC. A visit will increase your skill level by 1 boosting your weight capacity by 200 per level, To a maximum of level 10. Increase Carrying Weight skill has 10 levels, and once learned, It is permanent. However, it is reset once you transcend. After you transcend, Re-visit the NPC that teaches this ability to learn this back for free at the level you had Before you transcended. You can level this one at a time.
Is it different on eAthena servers then?

Not sure, this is Aegis =x.
Edit: Nevermind, I see what you're saying.
I'm not 100% sure, all I know is, on the server I tried to see how it worked, they had it designed to be a usable item, and it increased your carrying capacity based on class; some classes got more than others. They also had an item that you bought off the website and was account bound - similar to our Kafra Clips - and those increased your carrying capacity w/o having to use the consumable.

It's permanent even when you rebirth.

Why not make a card that gives you certain level of increase weight limit instead? I think it will be more feasible.

Because it can become unequipped and change your weight holding capacity. This can cause loss of items.
Then won't the suggested "item that temporary increase weight limit" will be the same? When the effect is gone, the items are gone?
I wouldn't put it past gravity to make a mistake like that. There is already a way to temporarily increase your weight limit, fill up on items and then lose that weight holding capability. My main question is on whether they are just giving away the merchants increase weight holding ability or if this a second ability that even the merchant class can take advantage of.
