Title: Of these two classes...
Post by: Zyrosfinal on May 02, 2009, 06:18:59 am
Which would you prefer?

I'm stuck between two, Professor and Lord Knight. Which would be best off without their SQI Weapon, in your opinions?

The reason why I ask is that I got bored of the champ I made, and am deciding to roll him back to High Novice for a fresh start. Already have HP, SinX, Bio, and Sniper. After playing the non-trans chars, I prefered Knight over Crusader, and have never really done a huge amount with the Mage classes, though I made a wizard randomly and leveled him for a day. Haven't been a huge fan of stalkers, whitesmiths, and so on.

The two builds I would have looked for, was with LK would use a 2H build, though not sure on what weap/cards yet, simply because of parrying, for mobs, then tossing up quicken before whacking away at a mob with the increased ASPD/Damage with Frenzy, unless I ended up going with a Pole Axe for Spiral, not sure how well the damage would be without an endow or element though.

If I went Proff, Drake Survivor's and pure caster build for bolting/waterball.

LK>Prof especially w/o sqi's

Prof's need their sqi more than most classes and are extremely hard to play without at least IC, LKs have enough support weapons to make them fully viable

you can buy a full elemental claymore set and executioner for a 2h build or pick up some elemental pikes and a pole axe, either way with low end gears you still will do well. You might not want to try places like thors till you get a sqi at least though (and a meg for either one)

Ah, alright then. I've been gearing up my other chars mostly, only weapon SQI I managed to get my hands on was Artemis, since I don't PvP on my HP, it's kind of useless to get Evang yet.. Gryph Valk and Kaho and a few universal armors. Gonna have to start digging through to sell some things to get a few ele weapons if they are ranked and whatnot. Was originally fighting it out between Pally and LK, then remembered how much I hated playing Crusaders.

But.. I guess LKs look shinier too. Heh.

crusaders and pallys are two different classes, its actually much different playing a pally than a crusdader. It's like playing a ranged tank/healer. But it all comes down to which class is most fun for you.

Well, mostly because I can't stand Grand Cross after playing Priest/HP with IC, an I usually level chars as their non-trans counterpart before playing the trans versions, such as going through as a Priest before HP, Monk before Champ, Hunter before Sniper, Sin before SinX. Though I guess this will be the first exception, though I have both Crusaders and Knights in the 70+ level range. I think it has to do with the AoE melee attacks that don't have to worry about cast reduc or causing more damage to myself than the mobs.

I started this server with a LK - they are quite good - get a hydra poleaxe for War and run a random endow.

What are you talking about? Crusader/Pally's are quite good, well it depends on the situation....
They are really nice for PvM, especially because they can heal and deal good damage, however in
PvP they are kind of a bust when you get to play against long ranged characters who lock you in place.
I guess Healing assures them of survivability, especially in long grind sessions.

WHat I do with my knight is use a Slaughtering Glittering Coat, get 100 HP for every monster killed by a melee attack, which happens to be every move Knights have besides Spear Boomerang. So, with 50~ hard def with a 2h weapon and decent vit def, if I can kill the mob in 2-3 strikes, I get a ton of HP back. But.. That's just my style, leveled a sin in Niff using the same armour, relying on kills to restore HP when flee didn't save me.

I still dont understand when Pro saders push their Sader is best to play with noob gear logic.
A sader is stuck to particular maps while a LK can go everywhere. a LK has more HP then a Pally. A Lk has frenzy which could be awesome for PvM. A Pally is good withj great mvp gears like Angeling or maybe an aegis. If you are on a budget LK is the way to go.

Don't count out scholars too quickly, if you say that you need a tome to be a good scholar then something is wrong :P
Don't get me wrong, its nice and all, but deffinitely not needed.

Sure it gives you a nice dex boost to hit IC easier and more HD damage but as far as I know, it doesn't give a magic attack bonus compared to a sages diaries 20% bonus with 70 int.

You can do fine without a tome, & IC still isn't needed, you do realize you have memorize for a reason??
Double casting and webbing kick ass, and then you can mess with people with soul burn in pvp & watch them spam gj, haha.
Don't forget you can make some good friends with your unlimited sp :P

They are a tricky class and require a bit of skill to master (probably why not a lot play them because everyone likes to use just one skill) :P
But once you really get the feeling for them, they're hard to give up.

Your choice either way, and good luck making that decision, hopefully you pick one that you like
