Title: Long term investment??
Post by: WataMayu on March 25, 2009, 03:44:39 am
Hi guys,
I am currently deciding on saving up for a dopple card since it seems utmost important for most physical classes. However I am now met with another troubling problem. Which weapon should i put it in?
Well I have read through many different forum discussion and also tried playing a bit here and there. The 2 jobs that I like the most is sin and gunslingers. But I noticed that their weapons, armors, equipments are different worlds apart, thus I am unable to decide which jobs i should start to invest in.
I love both jobs, but tend to side towards gunslingers more. However, I do know that gunslingers are unable to transient, resulting in a big different of stats bonus between the both ( Hp, Sp, stats bonus ).
So lets just say I already got a dopple card, should I use it on my sin equipments or should I use it on my gun?
Even though I am still quite new to the game, I do plan to try woe and pvp in the not so distant future. ;D

Put it on a Dagger. :x
It will be more versatile and if you decide to make other classes, most of them can use it.

Tactically: You'll want to use it in a Dagger, like the post above mine stated. You get the most class versatility, with Novices, Sins, Rogues, Linkers, Swordsman classes, and others being able to use it; You can always try different classes later on, and still have a piece of gear for them, that will aid you in leveling.
However:
Your choice should rest upon what your favorite class is. If you love GS's, then put it in a gun, plain and simple. Most often, if you play a class you love; you'll get much less bored with it. On the flip-side, if you play a class only because it's "Good" then you won't get nearly as much enjoyment out of it.
An easy example of this is me. I enjoy playing as a Soul linker. So instead of playing a Trans character, I worked on gearing out my Soul linker, and I have fun basically everytime I'm on it. So it was definitely a worth while investment.

With what has been said before in mind, I would suggest buying a premade DDxx weapon as opposed to making your own. Though this means much longer savings, you will be saving up to 20m.
Profit wise and versatility wise go with a sin. Once that character has made you a significant amount of money with fast kiling + steal then work on your GS. Alternatively, starting with a GS as you like it would not be that bad of a idea but you'll have a rough time in a observative perspective leveling it and gaining zenny from doing so. (Saving grace for a GS is desperado spam + having a bs greed which is easy 700k-1m each hour(not including lleeching money). Will be better than what a sin could pull off but finding a reliable smith to party up with might be a pain)

I'm always envious of people that really enjoy playing Black/White Smiths. But for the love of god, I could never completely get into that class.

Try funny clips like Hylo/Mimic/Owl duke+baron/Bongun/rationing. It becomes fun. Playing smith is like plain paper, to make it fun you have to add stuff onto it.

It's much too late for me to become interested in RO now. Although funny you should mention those gears; Mimic, and Hylo were what I used on my Smith.

Only reason I enjoy sometimes playing a smith is because of the merchant combo. If it weren't for that, it would truly bore me to tears.

Egh I try to push myself to my hardest when I play smith, niff is way too easy, especially when you can hold almost the whole map on your back and still be fine. I try to mob in many other maps, they can almost level anywhere (the only place I don't think I could ever try is lh3, though lh2 and lh1 are on my lists to try.

Thanks for all the advices & the additional information about smiths
I have decided to work towards a gunslinger since I like the job the most.
On a second note, if I were to want to mainly focus on Sins, is it better for me to make a good katar compared to a dagger since it seems much cheaper cards wise? I can save up the rest of the money for other equips like Kahos and all.
