Title: Installing (with vista) - HELP
Post by: Anya on December 28, 2008, 06:40:34 pm
I have all the files downloaded buut whenever my patches come to packing exes (sakray.exe and anthem.exe) - I think this may have something to do with vista as it won't let me open/extract exes as it says they're potentially dangerous. . . UAC is off, already.
Oh, and I'm the only administrator ._.
Any help is appreciated ; - ;

Vista itself will just warn you.
Actually, it shouldn't even warn you if UAC is off. o_o

You have any anti-virus/addware/spyware/etc programs running?

And are you running SP1?

It was doing it for recieved files of uhm, alternate sakray, but I worked out how to unblock it.
I usually run AVG but I've turned it off(lol) to patch anthem.
Also: zonealarm.
How do I know if I'm running SP1?

Yeah, it should just warn you, but let you allow it.
AVG should be fine, if they would just stop labeling RO a virus, lawl.
As for Zona Alarm, I personally wouldn't use that; it's like, as bad as a virus itself.

To check, goto Start->Right Click My Computer->Properties
Should be near the top.

SP0 is where all the Vista hate comes from; bugs upon bugs upon aids.
Go download SP1, and Vista will blow XP out of the water. ;)

Try running it as administrator.  Just right click the patcher and then click "Run As Administrator".  Make sure to check on it every now and then.  If it times out restart it as administrator, and make sure to allow it if anything pops up.

I have run the anthempatch as administrator (like, specifically right clicked) and it gets stuck at the same part x[

Hmm that was the problem I was having with mine.  I'll think about it and I'll get back to you.

Edit: Do you have the game running at the same time your are trying to patch?  If so you have to turn it off.

Man, that really sounds like you don't have administrative rights or something is blocking it...

Hrmm...
Mine just kinda worked after I added SP1.

If it's not able to write, it'd say you have to run it as admin, it's being used by something else(try restarting), or it's corrupted(would require you reinstall aRO client, sakray should be fine).

All I could think to do would be reinstall the aRO client. =|

Try reinstalling the mini installer first.  If that doesn't work then backup your Ragnarok folder and reinstall.  It might fix it...

Ah, the mini installer on the site or in Zone's signature?

Uhm, well I tried to go on RO without patching and well.
I can get in fine and hear the noises of people warping etc.
But my RO screen is completely black D;

Here's sort of a quickpatch for the latest patches, in case you're unable to patch:
Quote
Anthem.exe: http://www.mediafire.com/?jlxlgmmyvcd
AnthemExe.exe & aRO.dll (it's a zip file, so extract it to your RO folder): http://www.mediafire.com/?mzg1zfiyzm2
adata.grf: http://www.mediafire.com/?a4nmzy2dm0o
AnthemPatch.exe: http://www.anthemro.com/Patch/AnthemPatch.exe

Also, another possible solution is to copy or move your RO folder to the "My Files" folder, anywhere else than "Program Files".
Log out of the game while you're patching, in case that's the reason why the patcher was unable to write the new client exe!

I got it working, and I wasn't ingame when I was patching ><
Buut now all the text writing where it should be black is see-through...
And I still can't patch. D:

Wow strange problems...  Did you try moving the RO folder out of the "Program Files" folder and then patch it like GM Fidelis said?

Edit: Also check your video driver to make sure it's up to date.
